Zelina Vega was unfortunately released by the WWE amid the COVID-19 budget cuts during the pandemic. But down the road, she managed to make her return in 2021 and prove her potential to be a wrestling talent instead of just being a manager for her fellow male colleagues.
After being done with her stint in NXT, where she was Andrade El Idolo’s manager for a long time, Zelina Vega appeared to be a complete stunner on WWE television as well as on social media. She was away from TV for a major portion of last year but a couple of months ago, she found a new faction to manage and thereby returned to Smackdown. Now, it’s perhaps the time for seeing her back in action.

A fan recently took to Twitter and asked Zelina Vega when she was going to compete in the ring again. In reply, the Smackdown Superstar stated that she will be making her in-ring return and that she won’t feature in a manager’s role, only,
“Soon. I’m not strictly anything. I. Do. It. All… not many can say that.”

Zelina Vega aligned herself with Legado del Fantasma
Those who watch Smackdown on a regular basis do know that Zelina Vega has been aligned with Legado del Fantasma since the faction made their main roster debut. Elektra Lopez was in the manager’s spot in the group which has now been taken over by the Hispanic Superstar. The group imported from WWE NXT also contains Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, and Santos Escobar.
All of these names have been seen in action since their Smackdown insertion. However, Zelina Vega is yet to step into the ring since joining the faction. The last time she competed in a televised match was in April of 2022 when she ended up losing to the one-time WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.
One of the biggest accomplishments of Zelina Vega stands when she found herself walking into WrestleMania 38 as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Carmella. The duo lost the titles on that night to Sasha Banks and Naomi, ending their 132-day reign. Vega also won the only Queen of the Ring tournament held by the WWE by defeating Doudrop at the Crown Jewel 2021 premium live event.
