Since coming back to WWE, a couple of years ago, Zelina Vega has been steadily rising as a superstar despite the fact that she’s not a regular in-ring performer. Although she had to move into another hiatus due to injury, her active status on social media manages to keep her in the public eye and be relevant. However, WWE has recently snubbed her.
The company has just announced and published promotional materials around the WWE King and Queen Of The Ring pay-per-view and Zelina Vega’s absence has been noticed. WWE dropped their first official promo for the upcoming King and Queen of the Ring premium live event, which will take place on Saturday, May 27th in Jeddah Saudi Arabia and the top WWE SmackDown Superstar wasn’t present on it.

Zelina Vega was inaugural WWE Queen’s Crown winner
Back in 2021, Zelina Vega won the inaugural Queen of The Ring tournament in Saudi Arabia, then named Queen’s Crown after defeating Piper Niven in the finals. She is a history maker in that sense and hence her exclusion from the advertisement for some reason ended up shocking her fanbase as well as the superstar herself.

Due to WWE’s strange first promo launch about the upcoming pay-per-view, Zelina Vega took to Twitter and expressed her frustration. Her good friend in the WWE, The New Day member Xavier Woods was the inaugural King Of The Ring and he was included in the released promo. After receiving the same treatment, he then proceeded to upload an edited version of the advertisement, featuring himself and the Queen’s Crown winner.

WWE announced, earlier this week that Backlash was coming to Puerto Rico on May 6. The host city is outside the traditional 50 states in America and hence, this can be considered as an international PLE, a month after WrestleMania 39. Soon after the announcement, Zelina Vega also took to her Instagram and made it clear that she wants to compete at the Backlash event since Puerto Rico is her home territory.
At this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble match, Zelina Vega cosplayed as Juri Han from the Street Fighter video game in her last performance as a wrestler, for the time being. She is lending her voice to be a commentator in the upcoming Street Fighter 6 video game that will be released on June 2.
“I am a real-time commentator in Street Fighter 6, and even just to say that out loud, I’m like ‘wait, no, is that real?'” Zelina Vega revealee more about this stint in the I Hear Voices podcast. “My favorite is when I get to tell my mom, ‘Hey mom, remember when you said I would never get anywhere with video games?'” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)
