WWE News: Big Upset Planned For The Universal Championship Match 1

There has been quite a speculation on the upcoming main event of No Mercy PPV. This Universal Championship match will be for the first time where two of the goliaths of the WWE would collide in a singles competition. The champion, Brock Lesnar will defend the title against none other than the mountain among men, Braun Strowman.

Technically there can’t be more of a mouth-watering match in today’s WWE. Strowman was built like an unstoppable force so that he can go face-to-face and gain the upper hand like no one has been able to do in recent times. In fact, for the first-time ever since Wrestlemania 30, Lesnar is going into a match where he is the underdog.

We have seen the recent mugging that the giant has delivered to the beast on some occasions. From Summerslam onwards, Strowman has man-handled the champion like nobody ever did. So, the question remains whether the WWE creative will allow him to come up victorious in this upcoming match.

According to an exclusive report by Sportskeeda, the finish might turn out to be upset. Braun Strowman might win the championship from Brock Lesnar considering that the latter one is scheduled to go on a hiatus following No Mercy PPV.

The new champion will have a short title-run that will continue for the rest of the year. Lesnar will return next year to claim his rematch, and he will get it at the Royal Rumble PPV. He will eventually regain his title at the first dual-brand event in 2018. This will ensure the main event of Wrestlemania 34 between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.

However, according to Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the finish is still unplanned. He believes there’s a surprise in store for us that will be revealed later this evening or just before the start of the PPV. Here are his comments:

“I think that he’s [Vince McMahon] gonna make his decision late in the day on Sunday. So I guess maybe don’t put any money on that match if you think you know what the finish is because I think that’s gonna be one of those top-secret finishes style matches.”
