THE MAN continues to rule the roost on the NXT Women’s Division following the NXT No Mercy 2023 premium live event that went down last night at the Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield, California. In what appeared to be her first-ever experience in Extreme Rules, the top Raw female star showed tremendous resiliency to retain her gold against the former champion of NXT.
In the main event of NXT No Mercy 2023, Becky Lynch (c) defeated Tiffany Stratton in an Extreme Rules Match to retain the NXT Women’s Championship. Throughout the match, the champion paid tribute to the passed-away WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt. The former WWE Champion, real name Windham Rotunda suffered a heart attack in August of this year in his sleep and he was not seen since getting pulled from programming shortly before WrestleMania 39 due to health issues.

NXT No Mercy 2023: Becky Lynch paid tribute to Bray Wyatt
Becky Lynch previously admitted to having received tips from Wyatt while competing in extreme conditions in the WWE like Ladder Matches and it made sense why she paid tribute to the late great star. In the first place, she entered NXT No Mercy 2023 Fans wearing a white shirt inscribed with writing. One of those words on the shirt had ‘BRAY’ written on it in tribute to the three-time World Champion.
Apart from Bray, Becky’s special gear for NXT No Mercy 2023 also included the name of her husband, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins as well as the name of their daughter Roux. The shirt also had nicknames of Becky throughout her WWE career like ‘The Man,’ ‘LassKicker,’ and ‘N-BEX-T.’

As for the match, Big Time Becks arrived in style with a cart full of weapons. She and Tiffany fought in the crowd but the latter gained control of the match after they returned to the squared circle, using a crowbar, hammer, and steel steps to down her opponent.

Tiffany scored a near-fall with a spinebuster onto the trash can, before powerbomb-ing Lynch onto the steel steps for another near-fall. Lynch came back using a fire extinguisher and barbed wire baseball bat, paying homage to Cactus Jack. Tiffany missed a moonsault attempt onto a pile of chairs which allowed Becky to plant her with the Manhandle Slam onto the chair for the title retention at NXT No Mercy 2023.
