Jofra Archer (England) – 20 wickets
Bridgetown-born Jofra Archer made his international debut just before the 2019 ODI World Cup, but the young right-arm fast bowler still played the crucial role for England to win their first-ever Cricket World Cup trophy. He managed to take 20 wickets in the latest CWC edition, which is the record for an England bowler in an edition of the CWC.
Archer’s overall bowling figures in the 2019 CWC were 100.5-8-461-20 (economy rate 4.57) with the bowling average of 23.05. His best bowling figures in that tournament were 7-1-27-3 against South Africa at The Oval on 30th May 2019 (in the League Stage of that tournament). Though Archer didn’t manage to claim at least one four-wicket haul in that tournament, he managed to claim five three-wicket hauls in that tournament, which was the joint-most three-wicket hauls for a bowler in that edition.
Archer also played a crucial role in the final of that tournament (against New Zealand at The Lord’s on 14th July 2019) as he bowled the match-deciding Super Over of that game, where the match again finished with the tie result but England won that match on the boundary countback rule.
