The Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc continued his familiar dominating bowling performance in the 2019 ODI World Cup. Starc, the Player of the Tournament award winner in the 2015 ODI World Cup, once again finished as the most wicket-taker in the 2019 World Cup as the left-arm pacer took 27 wickets.

Starc’s overall bowling figures in the latest CWC were 92.2-5-502-27 (economy rate 5.43) with the bowling average of 18.59. Breaking the previous record of the former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath’s 26 wickets in 2007 edition, Starc created history by managing the new most number of wickets in a CWC edition.

Starc managed to claim two five-wicket hauls and two four-wicket hauls in the 2019 ODI World Cup. His best bowling figures were 9.4-1-26-5 against New Zealand at Lord’s on 29th June 2019 (in the League Stage of that tournament). His bowling played an important role for the defending champions Australia to reach the semi-final of that tournament.
