Wrist-spinner for Team India Kuldeep Yadav is the fresh example of reaping the rewards with consistency. The promising star had played a pivotal role for the Men in Blue in 2018. He went on to bag 45 scalps in 19 One-day Internationals (ODIs) at the jaw-dropping bowling average of 17.78. Meanwhile, Kuldeep is living his dream to cherish his time in the lead up of the 2019 ICC World Cup.
There’s a thin line between a dream and reality:
Kuldeep, who was asked about his quadrennial event preparations and much more, expressed he is happy to partake in the ODI showpiece. In series Down Under, Kuldeep had delivered for India while rolling over the arm.
“To be very honest I am still living a dream. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I will be a part of the World Cup squad,” Kuldeep told Indian Express.
Kuldeep, who has become a central figure for India earned accolades from head coach Ravi Shastri; the expectations would grow longer. He delivered in the Test fold by claiming a maiden five-for on Australian soil in the fourth and final Sydney Test. He has further tasted his success at home apart from enjoying bowling in tandem with Yuzvendra Chahal.
The 24-year-old Kuldeep, who made his debut in Windies way back in 2017, had an astounding success alongside spin partner Chahal. Irrespective of the conditions, Kuldeep has picked wickets at his will which includes England and South Africa, last year. Regarding his first stint, Kuldeep has left an impact during his involvement in the Asia Cup 2018.
Kuldeep aims for the 2019 World Cup contribution:
Kuldeep, who’s been quintessential in the white-ball fold, reveals it’s to be a remarkable phase of his international career. Even though, he is unsure about his celebration if India went on to lift the coveted title. He is further living the dream to contribution in lifting overall third World Cup in the 50-over format for India.
“If India wins the World Cup then it will be the biggest moment in my career. I do not know how I will celebrate. The entire country wants it and if I can win it for the country then I will know that I have made a meaningful contribution to my country. This is my dream,” Kuldeep added.
While shedding light on the English conditions, Kuldeep hinted that situation in the United Kingdom (UK) wouldn’t affect them. He further added there’s a time left and he is keeping things simple.
The exciting thing about Kuldeep has been that he often relished in performing under pressure.
“World Cup pressure will be there, and that should be there for all players. It helps to perform. Conditions won’t really matter in ODI. I am not thinking too much on it now. There is still time, and neither do I believe in bringing something new. If you are talking about mystery then that is something that I do not believe in,” Kuldeep signed off.
For India, Kuldeep has weaved the magic and has been influential in the playing XI. Recently, he has achieved the career-best ranking in the ICC’s T20 rankings for the bowlers.
Since March 2017, Kuldeep represented India in 39 ODIs, 18 T20Is and six Tests to bag 136 wickets across formats.
