ToggleAfter the three-match ODI series, Afghanistan and Windies are ready for the three-match T20I series. On Thursday (14th November), they will play the first match of this T20I series at Ekana International Cricket Stadium (Lucknow).
The recent ODI series had the 3-0 result in favour of Windies. On the other hand, Windies have won three T20Is against Afghanistan out of their four T20I meetings while Afghanistan have won the other one.

At present, Afghanistan are the no.8-ranked T20I team and two-time World T20 champions Windies are the no.10-ranked T20I side.
Kieron Pollard-led Windies team is looking for their first T20I victory this year

After completing the whitewash, Kieron Pollard-led Windies are now heading towards T20I series. Windies players mostly dominated in the ODI series and they surely want to carry this form in T20I series too.
However, Windies have struggled in the recent T20I cricket. Since January 2018, Windies have played 21 T20Is where they have managed to win only four games and suffered defeats in 16 matches. The picture is more disturbing in this year as Windies have lost all the six T20Is in 2019 and they haven’t won a T20I in this year yet.

Also, many crucial experienced T20I players are not in this series too.
However, many of this T20I squad featured in the recently concluded ODI series. Also, the other players are well T20 specialists. Moreover, Kieron Pollard is their new T20I captain, who is an experienced T20 cricketer and just led the Caribbean team to win an ODI series for the first time since August 2014.
Due to the suspension, Windies will miss Nicholas Pooran in this entire T20I series.
Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan are desperate to start this series with a victory

Afghanistan have recently suffered their 12 consecutive ODI defeats after recently losing all the three ODIs against Windies. But their recent T20I pictures are totally different than their present ODI form.
In last September, during the T20I tri-series in Bangladesh, Afghanistan created a new record in T20I history by winning 12 successive T20I matches. To register that new record, Afghanistan broke their own previous record of 11 straight T20I victories.
Since 2018, Afghanistan have played 14 T20Is out of which they have won 12 matches and lost two games. They have played seven T20Is this year where this Asian team has won five times and lost twice.
While the 21-year-old leg-spinner Rashid Khan is leading this Afghanistan team, this team has won two games out of the four T20Is under his leadership (lost the other two matches). His present weak form is also another biggest problem for his team.

Afghanistan batting isn’t much experienced but they are very powerful. However, the top-order needs to perform better and consistently to successfully maintain their T20I records.
