Warwickshire sport director Paul Farbrace said, “It’s really disappointing for Olly. To be ruled out of action for such an important two weeks of cricket because of a reoccurrence of his back injury.”

On Wednesday (7th August), Stone will undergo the scan which can clarify his present condition.

Farbrace added, “At the moment there’s a bit of inflammation, but he will undergo a scan later this afternoon so that we know the full course of treatment that he can undertake with the club’s medical team and with the support of the ECB. In the meantime, he needs to rest up before he can get his body strong again and ready to deal with the demands of being a fast bowler.”

Olly Stone has played only one Test

Stone made his Test debut in last month during England’s only Test match against Ireland at Lord’s. In that game, he took three wickets (3/29) during Ireland’s first innings. However, he didn’t get a chance to bowl in the second innings of that match. Due to the latest injury, Stone has to wait now for more time to make his second Test appearance.

In last October, during England’s tour of Sri Lanka, Stone made his ODI debut. He has played four ODIs till the date and taken only one wicket.
