Former South African head coach Russell Domingo is one of the front-runners to become the next head coach of Bangladesh national cricket team.
The former Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes finished his tenure after completion of the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Bangladesh played the recent three-match ODI series against the hosts Sri Lanka without a head coach.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently working to find out the next head coach of the men’s national team. At present, the BCB is taking interviews of the candidates.

On Wednesday (7th August), the top BCB members took the interview of Russell Domingo. The present South Africa A coach Domingo has impressed the BCB members in that interview.
BCB media committee chairman reveals their reaction on Russell Domingo’s presentation
The BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has claimed that Domingo has satisfied them with his presentation.
Yunus told according to Cricbuzz, “He presented his future plan with Bangladesh cricket team and I will say it is quite satisfactory. His background is also good.
“He is now with South Africa A team and he was the coach of South African national team. But it’s not the end of the world as I said that we have two coaches also. We’ll see how they present their plan.”
Russell Domingo was the head coach South Africa national cricket team from 2012 to 2017. In 2012, he was the coach of South Africa’s T20I side. Later, in 2013, he replaced the head coach Gary Kirsten in the other two formats. Under his tenure, South Africa reached the semi-finals in ICC World T20 2014 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Meanwhile, the BCB members have also sorted out two more possible candidates for the head coach role. However, their names haven’t been disclosed yet as they will soon present their plans in the interviews.

Yunus has also claimed that they will likely to select the head coach within these three candidates.
The BCB recently appointed two new bowling coaches
The BCB has recently appointed Charl Langeveldt and Daniel Vettori as the bowling coaches. Former South African pacer Langeveldt will play the role of fast-bowling coach of Bangladesh team. Meanwhile, the former New Zealand captain Vettori has signed a 100-day contract as a spin-bowling coach. Vettori will present during Bangladesh tour of India November 2019, ICC T20 World Cup 2020 etc.
