Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra took retirement from the international cricket after playing the first T20I of three-match T20I series against New Zealand at Delhi on Wednesday night (1st November 2017).

- Ashish Nehra is the second oldest Indian player in T20I history. He played his last T20I match at the age of 38 years and 186 days (as on 1st November 2017). India’s oldest T20I player is Rahul Dravid (38 years and 232 days).

- Ashish Nehra’s 6/23 bowling figure (10-2-23-6) against England in 2003 ICC World Cup is the second-best bowling figure by a left arm bowler in any ICC tournament. The best is 12-6-14-6 by Gary Gilmour (Australia) against England on 18th June 1975 at Leeds.
Also, Ashish Nehra’s this bowling figure (6/23) is the best bowling figure by an Indian bowler in any ICC tournament.
- Ashish Nehra is the only Indian bowler to pick six wickets twice in ODI cricket. Those were 6/23 (10-2-23-6) against England at Durban on 26th February 2003 and 6/59 (10-1-59-6) against Sri Lanka at Colombo (RPS) on 9th August 2005.
- As an Indian cricketer, Ashish Nehra had the third longest international career span (18 years and 250 days). The top two Indian cricketers in this list are Sachin Tendulkar (24 years and one day) and Lala Amarnath (19 years).
- In international cricket, Ashish Nehra played under eight different captains. He played under Mohammad Azharuddin (India), MS Dhoni (India), Rahul Dravid (India), Gautam Gambhir (India), Sourav Ganguly (India), Virat Kohli (India), Virender Sehwag (India) and Inzamam-ul-Haq (Asia XI).
- Ashish Nehra had claimed his maiden ODI wicket in just 2nd delivery when he had dismissed Alistair Campbell (Zimbabwe).
