Bangladesh Announces Squad For Test Match Against Afghanistan

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. The match will be played from 5th September at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. The 15 men squad includes Shakib Al Hasan. He is no.1 in ODI, no. 2 in T20I, no. 3 in Test in men’s allrounder ranking.

He was given rest for three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The performance of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team was poor which led to the loss of series against Sri Lanka by 3-0. The team missed his presence. Shakib Al Hasan will lead the team against Afghanistan.

Tamim Iqbal is not in Bangladesh squad

Tamim Iqbal asked for the break from the board and his request was accepted. He is not in the squad. It was a tough time for him as a skipper in series against Sri Lanka.

After recovering from the ankle injury, Taskin Ahmed is back in the squad as he also missed the series against New Zealand. The bowler last played in Test format in September 2017. He has played five Test matches for Bangladesh. Taskin will replace Mustafizur Rahman in the squad.

Mosaddek Hossain and Ebadat Hossain both have shown impressive performances in previous matches. Mosaddek has impressed everyone with his performance in the World Cup.

Apart from Ebadat, in bowling unit, Bangladesh has spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam. Abu Jayed Rahi is also a younger player. He played the last match against New Zealand this year.

Shadman Islam is the left-hand batsman in the team after the absence of Tamim. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah will have to be more responsible. Mohammad Mithun, Soumya Sarkar and Mominul Haque are the other batters in the squad.
