Barbadian-born Jofra Archer started his cricket in West Indies. In 2014, he even served for the West Indies U19 cricket team. But he felt that it was very hard to earn a chance to serve for the West Indies due to lack of progress in cricket in Barbados.

As no one was showing interest on the right-arm fast bowler Jofra Archer, he decided to try his luck in England in 2015 as his father is English. But while Jofra Archer didn’t live in England before his 18th birthday, he had to spend seven years before earning an opportunity to serve for England cricket team, which meant he wouldn’t be eligible to serve for England till 2022.

However, later, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) reduced the timeline of the residency period, which helped Archer to make his international debut just before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Though he hadn’t enough experiences in international cricket, Archer was selected in the 15-member English squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, and he played a very important role for his team to win their first-ever Cricket World Cup. In the ICC CWC 2019, England’s best bowler Archer finished as the joint third most wicket-taker (20 wickets) in that tournament. He also bowled in the Super Over of that World Cup final, where the scores remained tie but England was declared as the winners on the boundary countback rule (26–17).

After that successful tournament, Archer made his Test debut during the Ashes 2019 at home. Though England failed to regain the Ashes trophy, they managed to survive from the series defeat as it had the 2-2 result, and Archer was their one of the standout performers by finishing as the third most wicket-taker (22 wickets) in that tournament.

Archer has played seven Tests, 14 ODIs and only T20I where he has managed to pick up 30, 23 and two wickets respectively.
