Imran Tahir

The leg-spinner Imran Tahir was not only born in Pakistan, but he also served for the Pakistan U19 team, Pakistan A team, and also experienced Pakistan domestic cricket. However, Tahir never earned the call-up in the Pakistan national cricket team.
In 2005, at the age of 26-year-old, Tahir married Sumayya Dildar, a South African woman (Indian descent), and shifted his focus to represent for South Africa in international cricket. While he became eligible to serve for South Africa national cricket team in early 2011, the selectors added him in the 15-member South African squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, even he hadn’t any experiences in international cricket.
Tahir made his international debut during the Group Stage match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 against West Indies (at Delhi on 24th February 2011), where he had the impressive bowling figures of 10-1-41-4. In that tournament, Tahir finished as the second most wicket-taker for South Africa as the leg-spinner picked up 14 wickets in just five matches. It was just the beginning of his incredible international career.
While Tahir made his Test debut in November 2011, he made his T20I debut in August 2013. He played 20 Tests, 107 ODIs and 38 T20Is where he managed to pick up 57, 173 and 63 wickets respectively. On 3rd October 2018, during the Bloemfontein ODI against Zimbabwe, Tahir became the fourth South African cricketer to claim ODI hat-trick. He is the most international wicket-taker as a spinner for South Africa.
