Delhi Capitals’ Indian players have gathered in Mumbai before their travel to the UAE for IPL 2020 slated from 19th September. They are expected to leave Mumbai in the coming weekend to board the flight for Dubai.
Ajinkya Rahane, who was traded from Rajasthan Royals to Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2020 auction, has also reached to Mumbai along with his teammates. He will stay in the team hotel and would go under the COVID-19 test.
Rahane also expressed that what challenges the teams might face in the UAE while following the safety protocols. He said that it would be a challenging trophy. India’s Test specialist added that the much-awaited IPL edition would be a difficult experience but keeping positive thoughts will help the team to survive.
Shreyas Iyer to lead Delhi Capitals:
“There is no doubt that it will be a challenging trip for everyone involved. But like everyone else, I’ve spent these last few months focusing on my physical and mental health, and taking care of my family. So the time I’ve managed to spend with them has put me in a positive frame of mind,” Ajinkya Rahane said.
“However, this IPL will be a very different experience for all of us, and we need to make sure that we are all very positive when we hit the ground running. The key is to take one step at a time,” he added.
Last year, Delhi Capitals for the first time reached the playoffs but could qualify further. This time fans are expecting Shreyas Iyer-led side to clinch the IPL trophy.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals team have arrived in the UAE. They will all go under six days quarantine period to follow safety protocols.
The teams are instructed to form a bio-secure bubble in which the families would not be allowed to meet the outsiders. The tournament will span for 53 days tournament during which 60 matches will be played.
