U19 World Cup 2020: Divyansh Saxena And Tanzim Hasan Sakib Involved in Heated Exchange

While the Indian youngsters and Bangladesh youngsters have been involved in the final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020, the Indian opener Divyansh Saxena was involved in a heated exchange with the Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Indian senior cricketer Jaydev Unadkat has been impressed with the passion and aggression of the U19 boys.

On Sunday (9th February), India U19 face Bangladesh U19 in the final of this global youth tournament. After winning the toss, the Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali asked defending champions India to bat first.

Divyansh Saxena was surprised with Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s action:

From the beginning of the game, Bangladesh young bowlers were very tight against the Indian youth batsmen. On the third ball of the second over of the day, after the Indian opener, Saxena successfully defended the delivery which rolled onto the pitch which eventually saw Sakib throwing the ball back to the striker’s-end where Saxena was taken by surprise.

However, that ball missed the target and went past over the head of Saxena who luckily survived from any injury as it didn’t hit him. After that incident, both had stared at each other.

On the final ball of that over, Sakib was involved in the verbal duel with the Indian opener. Finally, the umpires needed to intervene only to separate them. In that first two overs, India failed to open their scoreboard.

The senior Indian cricketer Unadkat, who represented India U19 in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2010, has been impressed with that passion and aggression from the youngsters. The left-arm pacer Unadkat also urged the Indian youngsters to bring the cup home.

The record four-time U19 CWC winners India U19 are playing this tournament as the defending champions. Meanwhile, it is the first U19 CWC final for the Bangladesh U19.

At the end of the first innings of this final, Bangladesh U19 bowled out the defending champions for just 177 runs (47.2 overs). Apart from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (88), No.3 batsman Tilak Varma (38) and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel (22), all others failed to reach the double-digit scores.
