Ben Stokes And Jofra Archer Were Not Retained By Rajasthan Royals For IPL 2022, Kumar Sangakkara Clarifies

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer are two of the biggest superstars of world cricket at the moment. However, RR’s Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, sheds some light on their decision as to why didn’t inaugural IPL 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals retain them.

One of the biggest surprises, somewhat shocks, of the entire IPL 2022 Retention process was the exclusion of pacer Jofra Archer and all-rounder Ben Stokes from the list of players retained. Two of the biggest superstars of the game, both England regulars when fit, were expected to be the first names on the Rajasthan Royals’ list, but it wasn’t the case, and RR Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara explained the reason behind the same.

Ben Stokes And Jofra Archer Not Retained By Rajasthan Royals; Kumar Sangakkara Mentions Availability For The Injury Prone Duo A Reason Behind Their Axe

While speaking in a video uploaded on the official Twitter handle of the franchise, Kumar Sangakkara first praised Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer and then went on to reveal the reasoning behind their astonishing decision.

“It’s extremely difficult. They are two of the best players in the world at the moment. Ben Stokes is the best all-rounder I have seen in a very long time. [He’s] an absolute match-winner and he has shown that for Rajasthan Royals. Absolutely brilliant as a team man, brilliant in a leadership role. He just brings his amazing energy to the field. We had to consider the number of retentions possible.”

“Player availability, in terms of how much of the tournament that a player is available for. It’s the same with Jofra. We did everything to ascertain the nature of the injury, the recovery period.

“There hasn’t been a phenomenon like Jofra Archer in any form of cricket, especially T20 cricket. And I know the players themselves understand our reasoning, even though they may be disappointed. I am sure they are, as we are as a franchise. All these dynamics come into play,” elaborated Sangakkara.

Upon a brief study of their stats over the last two years, Rajasthan Royals’ move to release them into the IPL 2022 auction does begin to make sense.

Ben Stokes played 8 matches in 2020, scoring 285 and bagging a mere 2 wickets. In the 2021 edition, he only played one match before sustaining a finger injury. On the other hand, pacer Jofra Archer bagged 14 wickets in 14 matches during IPL 2020 but didn’t feature in a single game in the 2020 edition due to a long injury layoff.

Rajasthan Royals Retain Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, & Yashasvi Jaiswal In IPL 2022

Rajasthan Royals have retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the upcoming seasons. In the previous edition of the tournament, Sanju Samson scored 484 runs from 14 matches at an average of 40.33. About his captaincy, Sanju Samson brings in certain ease and calm in his approach.

Jos Buttler has scored in excess of 250 every time since making his IPL debut in 2016. While he had to leave IPL 2019 midway to join the England team for the World Cup 2019 preparations, he made an impact during his eight-game stint, scoring 311 runs, following his 548-run season in IPL 2018.

The right-hander scored 328 runs in the IPL 2020 and 254 runs in 7 games in the India leg of IPL 2021 that included a ton-his career-best 124 before opting out of the UAE leg IPL 2021. Wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler hit the top gear against Sunrisers Hyderabad by smashing 124 off 64 balls in an IPL 2021 match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 2.40 Cr ahead of the IPL 2020. He managed 289 runs in 13 IPL games averaging a modest 22.23 with one fifty and a strike rate of 136.32.

Retention 1 – Sanju Samson (INR 14 Crores)

Retention 2 – Jos Buttler (INR 10 Crores)

Retention 3 – Yashasvi Jaiswal (INR 4 Crores )

With the three retentions, RR now has the purse of INR 62 Crores, heading into the mega auction.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Orthodox Shots Should Be Followed By Budding Cricketers Aspiring To Play All 3 Formats: Deep Dasgupta

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century during the Saturday of Chennai Super Kings’ defeat to Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2021 clash.

Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta praised the youngster’s brilliant unbeaten 101 off 60 balls and said that it was a great sign for more classical batsmen and said his innings proved that the shortest format of the game was not just for power-hitters.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Played Orthodox Shots Which Budding Cricketers Aspiring Should follow To Play All 3 Formats: Deep Dasgupta

Ruturaj Gaikwad reached his century on the last ball of the CSK innings by smacking his fifth six and finishing with an unbeaten 101. The right-handed batsman’s 60-ball ton propelled the Chennai Super Kings to 189/4 in stipulated 20 overs and earned him the orange cap for being the leading run-scorer in the league ahead of veterans KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Deep Dasgupta said on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s century: “It just tells you that this format is not only for power hitters. If you have the right technique and you know your game well enough, there are different ways of being successful in this format. And if you look at Ruturaj and the shots that he played, they are very orthodox cricketing shots.”

Deep Dasgupta noted that Ruturaj Gaikwad is a great exponent for orthodox batting, which will stand players in good stead in all three formats.

Deep Dasgupta added: “I guess success to batters like Ruturaj Gaikwad is that much more important because when you go to these coaching camps and look at youngsters, they are trying all these fancy shots, the lap and the reverse-lap and all. Then you see someone like Ruturaj, it’s like this is how you should be playing, because this would make sure that you’re not only successful in T20s but the other two formats as well.”

West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite also praised how Ruturaj Gaikwad constructed his innings, scoring 30 runs off his first 30 deliveries and 71 of his next 30.

Carlos Brathwaite said,  “What was impressive is that in his first 30 balls, he was on 30. So going at run-a-ball just in and outside the powerplay, but then to have the confidence in your ability to step your game up.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s fine 101* helped CSK post 189 runs, which was the highest total in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He had some support from Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali. Ravindra Jadeja then came in to provide ample firepower at the death with a 15-ball 32.

Rajasthan Royals Wins After Evin Lewis, Shivam Dube, And Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Heroics As Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Ton Goes In Vain

However, Rajasthan Royals started their chase with a blitzkrieg opening stand, with openers Yashaswi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis going on a rampage in the powerplay. Evin Lewis hit 27 off 12 deliveries before falling in the final over of the powerplay, as the Rajasthan Royals finished at 81/1 in their first six overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his maiden IPL half-century off just 20 deliveries, before falling to Shardul Thakur off his next delivery in the seventh over. Shivam Dube carried on from where they left off and guided the Royals to a 7-wicket win.

Shivam Dube scored an unbeaten 64 off only 42 balls, studded with four boundaries and as many sixes. However, the defeat did not hurt CSK too much, as they had become the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs in IPL 2021.

IPL 2021: Salman Butt Impressed By Centurion Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Game Awareness

Salman Butt, the former tainted Pakistan opener, was in awe of Chennai Super Kings sensation opener Ruturaj Gaikwad following his maiden T20 hundred. Ruturaj Gaikwad lit up Abu Dhabi on Saturday by scoring a scintillating ton against the Rajasthan Royals, but his unbeaten 101 went in vain.

Ruturaj Gaikwad reached his century on the last ball of the innings by smacking his fifth six and finishing with an unbeaten 101. The right-handed batsman’s 60-ball ton propelled the Chennai Super Kings to 189/4 in stipulated 20 overs and earned him the orange cap.

Salman Butt: Ruturaj Gaikwad Is A Natural Talent, And His Game Awareness Is Outstanding

Salman Butt hailed Ruturaj Gaikwad’s game awareness and his ability to combat pressure. Salman Butt feels the youngster’s game is simple and risk-free as he avoids reckless shots and sets himself up before unleashing carnage.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad is a natural talent. But the mental and technical development and the game awareness is outstanding as he absorbs the pressure during difficult phases. There are players if they don’t hit boundaries for 3-4 deliveries, they begin taking a risk or play reckless shots.

“But Ruturaj Gaikwad is different as he puts away the bad balls and doesn’t come under pressure if otherwise. When set, he starts converting the aerial shots from grounded ones,” said Salman Butt.

The 24-year old’s knock contained five sixes and seven fours; however, it went in vain. The Rajasthan Royals chased down 190 with more than two overs and seven wickets to spare. Shivam Dube top-scored with 64*.   Rajasthan Royals chased down a mammoth target of 190 runs against Chennai Super Kings as youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube took the 2008 Champions home with 15 balls to spare.

Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed a maiden IPL ton in the first innings but still, it wasn’t enough for the 3-time champions to get them over the finishing line. 19-year old Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden 50 in the run chase and played a brilliant inning under pressure.  Chennai and Delhi have already qualified for the playoffs, while Rajasthan is at the 6th spot with 10 points. 3rd placed RCB has 14 points while 4 teams- KKR, PBKS, RR, and MI have 10 points each.

Salman Butt: Ruturaj Gaikwad Plays Risk-Free Cricket

Salman Butt further claimed Ruturaj Gaikwad is amazing to watch and maintains a healthy strike rate despite playing risk-free cricket. The former Pakistan captain Salman Butt lauded the youngster for adapting well to the format and not playing slam-bang cricket.

“He is also beautiful to watch and is old school as compared to most modern-day players. Gaikwad struck at 160 to 170, but he plays risk-free cricket. Hence, it’s a great quality for a batsman to have the temperament in a T20 game by respecting the good balls and playing your shots when set.

“His adaptability in this format with a proper technique is outstanding and unlike most new players, Gaikwad plays proper cricketing shots,” said Salman Butt.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 508 runs in IPL 2021 at 50.80 have enabled him to top the run-scoring charts. But despite losing, the Chennai Super Kings maintained their first position in the points table and also became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad also bagged the Orange Cap from Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul, becoming the first batsman in IPL 2021 to get to 500 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad now has 508 runs in 12 matches at an average of over 50 and a strike rate over 140. But Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 50 and Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 64 saw Rajasthan reach 190 in the 18th over.

Brian Lara Praised ‘Orthodox’ Orange Cap Holder Ruturaj Gaikwad But His 101* Goes In Vain

Brian Lara, the former West Indies captain heaped rich praise on CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad, saying the young CSK opener is a testament to the fact that big runs can be scored in T20 cricket by playing orthodox cricket.

Brian Lara, the legendary batsman and former West Indies captain said he is hugely impressed by Ruturaj Gaikwad’s batsmanship in the ongoing 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener hit a record-breaking century, albeit in a losing cause against Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Brian Lara: Ruturaj Gaikwad Is In KL Rahul’s Category

Brian Lara said CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad proves that a batsman can score much-needed runs in T20 cricket with orthodox shots and it gives him great pleasure watching the CSK opener dominate the opposition with his silky gameplay.

Brian Lara’s comments came after Ruturaj Gaikwad took the Rajasthan bowlers to the cleaners on Saturday. The opener got off to a slow start, hitting 30 runs off his first 29 balls but he ended up with 101 not out in just 60 balls, helping CSK post a mammoth 189/4 in 20 overs after RR sent them in to bat.

Ruturaj Gaikwad showcased his class, hitting spinners inside-out and sending pacers on a leather hunt with his elegance. He needed a six off the last two balls of the CSK innings against RR to get to his maiden hundred and he missed the penultimate delivery.

However, Ruturaj Gaikwad held his stance and smashed the final delivery into the mid-wicket stands to become the youngest batsman to score a hundred for CSK in the IPL.

“Yeah, he could have been 135 if he had got more strike in the end overs. But it was a complete show of batsmanship. That’s what I like about him, seeing how he put that innings together, how he surged in the second half of the innings. He was just tremendous to watch,” Brian Lara told Star Sports.

“He shows that you can play good cricket shots and still score big runs. And that’s what I am proud of as a batsman. It was just remarkable and unbelievable. I will put him now in the KL Rahul category,” Brian Lara said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Carrying CSK’s Batting At The Moment: Ajit Agarkar

The 24-year-old grabbed the limelight in IPL 2020, providing CSK fans something to cheer for with three fifties in a season where the 3-time champions failed to qualify for the play-offs. He has grown from strength to strength, leading the CSK batting unit. Lauding the young opener, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar said Ruturaj Gaikwad is carrying the CSK batting unit on his shoulders in IPL 2021.

“He took a little bit of time to get his first 30 rims and after that, he just took off. For me, he has been the find for CSK in the last season and a half. He is improving with every game. He is carrying their batting at the moment. He needed 6 off the last two balls. He misses one and hits the last one, it’s incredible,” Agarkar said.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, promising Chennai Super Kings batsman recalled how he overcame his early struggles in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 where he scored just 5 runs in the first three games.

Gaikwad smashed a hat-trick of half-centuries in the last three games to amass 204 runs averaging 51 in 6 games after scoring 5 runs in the first 3 outings. He scored unbeaten 65, 72, and unbeaten 62 as CSK won the last 3 games but finished 7th.

He has played 12 games in IPL 2021 so far amassing 508 runs averaging 50.8 besides being the 4th batsman to score a ton in IPL 2021 after Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson.

Kumar Sangakkara: Chris Morris Hasn’t Done Well For Rajasthan Royals In The UAE Leg Of IPL 2021

Kumar Sangakkara, Rajasthan Royals’ Director of Cricket said that all-rounder Chris Morris knows that he has not done a good enough job for the side in the last few games after RR suffered a seven-wicket loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the UAE leg of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021

Chasing 150, Glenn Maxwell and Srikar Bharat scored 50 and 44 respectively as RCB defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets with 17 balls to spare. With this win, RCB consolidated its position at the third spot with 14 points from 11 games.

Kumar Sangakkara: Chris Morris Hasn’t Done Well For RR In The UAE Leg

Chris Morris has not taken a wicket in the UAE leg of the IPL in three games for RR. The big-hitting all-rounder went for 50 runs off his four overs against RCB and also didn’t have any wickets.

It was a tale of two halves for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in match 43 of the IPL 2021.  But the worst part was that the second half of RR batting innings enabled them to lose the game by seven wickets. It all started to go haywire for RR when they lost their opener, Evin Lewis, at 100 for two. From there, they completely lost the plot and squandered the opportunity by losing the next seven wickets for just 51 runs.

“Chris Morris did brilliantly for us in the first half and he has not done the job as we would have liked him too in the second half. He knows that and we know that. 50 runs from four overs, his last over were the last throw of the dice to try and get a wicket. We were well out of the game at that point. He has done well for us in certain parts and whoever we think of playing next will be the best person to come into the side to play against the opposition,” said Kumar Sangakkara during a virtual post-match press conference.

Chris Morris

When asked about his conversations with skipper Sanju Samson, Kumar Sangakkara said: “We do have one on one chat about a lot of things. India’s aspirations come at a time when the IPL is over. Our chats are primarily IPL focused, not just his batting, it is about the captaincy, the team, and what we want to do. He is a very good player, he has done exceptionally well for us this season.”

“I am sure that Sanju’s aspirations for playing for India will come true and he will get a longer run in the future. He is good and ready anytime he is picked,” Kumar Sangakkara added.

Chris Morris, the most expensive player in IPL’s history has so far scored 67 vital runs and taken 14 scalps averaging 16.75 and 24.85 respectively with the bat and ball in 10 games which isn’t satisfactory from the most expensive IPL player. Chris Morris was sold to Rajasthan Royals for a whopping sum of INR 16.25 Cr and became the most expensive player bought in the IPL Auction history.

Kumar Sangakkara: RR Was Struggling In Powerplays In India But They Struggled To Score Runs In Their Middle Order In UAE

Earlier, Harshal Patel’s three-wicket haul helped RCB restrict Rajasthan Royals to 149/9 in the allotted twenty overs. For Sanju Samson’s side, Evin Lewis top-scored with a knock of 58 runs from 37 balls.

“Well, the pitches have been very good. Especially in the first half of the tournament in India, we were struggling in powerplays and our middle and late middle-order was getting us into games. In the second half, we have gone the other way. That has been the case for us. In the last two games, from a good position, we were unable to convert, unfortunately, we have not got to the mark where we take the opposition out of the game,” said Kumar Sangakkara.

Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson (Image Credit: Twitter)

Sanju Samson is the 2nd highest scorer so far in IPL 2021 after Shikhar Dhawan as he amassed 452 runs in 11 games averaging about 50. But his teammates failed to support him as is evident that RR’s second-highest run-scorer is Yashasvi Jaiswal who has scored 187 runs in 7 appearances and is placed 27th. The seventh-placed Rajasthan Royals will next lock horns against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday in the ongoing IPL.

Evin Lewis Feels His Job Is To Give Rajasthan Royals Good Starts And Says Windies Will Be Under Pressure To Defend T20 World Cup

Evin Lewis, Rajasthan Royals opener says his country West Indies will be under pressure to defend the upcoming 2021 T20 World Cup title after winning it last time around in 2016. Rajasthan Royals opener Evin Lewis is everything a destructive T20 opening batsman should be. The hard-hitting West Indies cricketer looks up to Chris Gayle and is touted as the one to carry his legacy forward.

Evin Lewis was in smashing form in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League ahead of IPL 2021 Phase 2. He was the second-highest run-getter in the tournament. His exceptional performances helped St Kitts & Nevis Patriots win the title. The opener could play a crucial role for Rajasthan Royals in the UAE leg in absence of England’s Jos Buttler.

Evin Lewis Feels His Job Is To Give Rajasthan Royals Good Starts

Adil Rashid, Aiden Markram, and Evin Lewis have finally made their debut in IPL coming as replacement players in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.

“Coming in place of Buttler and Stokes doesn’t put pressure on me. My job is to go out there and give good starts. Kumar Sangakkara (RR mentor) has welcomed me. It feels great to be back in the IPL. I had to work very hard for it,” said Evin Lewis on making up for the absence of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes

“You need power but you need to use your mind too. You have to know the right time to take on a bowler and set up the game. You have to keep thinking all the time. Be positive even while defending,” said Evin Lewis on being an explosive batsman.

“(Laughs) Many guys ask me that same question. As a batter, I try and keep a still base and watch the ball onto the bat. Many of these guys have these ramps and scoops but I am not a fan of that,” said Evin Lewis on not playing ramps or scoops.

“There will be pressure on us because we have two T20 titles. We need to first get out of the group stage. It’s a tough group. That’s the first step we have to take,” said Evin Lewis on his country-the defending champions West Indies.

An aggressive left-handed batsman, Evin Lewis, joined the RR unit as a replacement for Jos Buttler. Evin Lewis, who has played 45 T20Is for West Indies, has scored 1318 runs at the strike rate of 158.03 and has 2 hundred and 9 fifties. He has scored 466 runs in 17 IPL matches averaging 27.41. He had played for Mumbai Indians earlier.

Evin Lewis Share A Good Relationship With Chris Gayle

In Rajasthan Royals’ first IPL 2021 match at UAE, Punjab left out big-hitting Chris Gayle and included Nicholas Pooran, Aiden Markram, Adil Rashid, Fabian Allen as the four foreign players in their Playing XI.

Three players — Ishan Porel, Aiden Markram, and Adil Rashid — were handed debut caps by the Punjab outfit.  Rajasthan Royals handed a debut to West Indies dasher Evin Lewis, giving him the responsibility to start the innings with young Yashasvi Jaiswal.

“Everyone has that expectation and keep saying if I am going to be the next Chris Gayle. We have to wait and see. Only time will tell. To be honest those are big shoes to fill. Chris is a supportive guy. When we bat together and if I am having a good game, he will just rotate strike. Many bowlers fear him but he will not get into the action if his partner is doing well. We share a good relationship and I keep learning from him,” said Evin Lewis on comparision with Chris Gayle.

“We are in the same group (in the WC). So, I don’t think we need to discuss anything. We are rivals (laughs). After I play a couple of games, I can analyse the players who are going to be in the World Cup,” said Evin Lewis on Liam Livingstone.

“I’ve never seen so much grass on Dubai pitches. We can’t predict if it will spin a lot or probably keep low. But I guess time will tell. I don’t think they will want something looking that bad for a big competition like the World Cup,” said Evin Lewis on spin playing a part in UAE pitches.

Evin Lewis scored 36 runs in the thriller match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh took a five-wicket haul for Punjab Kings as Rajasthan Royals was bundled out for 185. For the Sanju Samson-led side, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Mahipal Lamror scored 49 and 43 respectively. For Punjab, Mohammed Shami also scalped three wickets.

Punjab was poised for an easy win as they needed just four runs from the last over but the 20-year-old pacer, Kartik Tyagi changed the game with his accurate bowling. Kartik Tyagi emerged as the unlikely hero as he defended 4 runs in the final over to help Rajasthan Royals snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Punjab Kings.

Sanju Samson Fined INR 12 Lakh For Slow Over Rate

The two sides were playing their first match after the resumption of the IPL on September 19. In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 match last night, Rajasthan Royals (RR) made an epic comeback, beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by just two runs.

Punjab needed just four runs in the final over to win the game but was stopped from their march towards victory by RR bowler pacer Kartik Tyagi. Kartik Tyagi, the MOM, managed to take two crucial wickets and give away just one run in his final over spell.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences, Sanju Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh,” read an official statement.

Punjab Kings cruised for the better part of their stiff chase of 186 runs, with opener Mayank Agarwal scoring 67 off 43 deliveries and skipper KL Rahul, 49 off 33 balls. All that changed when the next two batsmen, Nicholas Pooran (32 off 22) and Aiden Markram (26* off 20), failed to rotate the strike in the last two overs and let the team fall short by just two runs.

Andrew Tye Opted Out Of IPL 2021 After Feeling Something Amiss, Says Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat said that the Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye must have opted out of the tournament and flown back home after feeling something. He added that RR takes the decisions of players in a positive way.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has said that foreign players leaving the team bio-bubble and flying back home amid the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have not spread any kind of negativity in the camp.

Jaydev Unadkat: Andre Tye Must Have Felt Something In His Mind

Reacting to Andrew Tye’s decision to leave the tournament midway, Jaydev Unadkat in an exclusive interview with Sports Today said that the Australian must have felt something before taking the call and that RR as a franchise is very supportive in such situations.

Notably, England batsman Liam Livingstone also left citing bio-bubble fatigue as the reason. Also, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer, two of the most important pillars of the RR setup have been ruled out for the entire tournament due to their respective injuries.

“If an Andrew Tye decides to go home he must have felt something in his mind and it’s right on his part, people are supposed to feel a lot of things, people are supposed to be anxious sometimes, and mind you it’s not easy to be in a bubble especially when you are alone and your family is out there back home.

“If an individual is capable enough and the mindset is right, the franchise is doing everything it can, to be honest. I must tell that management has given us to talk about any matter.”

“The atmosphere is positive, I don’t see a lot of negativity being spread around. We are expected to perform there on the ground so negativity doesn’t help that. We are getting to play the game which is in itself a blessing at the moment for all the first-class cricketers and players who are actually waiting to play cricket,” Jaydev Unadkat told Sports Today.

Andrew Tye is the 4th overseas player in the RR camp who has been ruled out. Andrew Tye, who had first joined RR in 2020, wasn’t a regular for RR but was one of the overseas options that RR could have considered.

The Purple Cap winner of IPL 2018, Andrew Tye only played 6 matches for Punjab Kings(then KXIP) in 2019. He moved to RR at his base price of Rs 1 crore. He only played one match in IPL 2020 in UAE. He went for 50 runs and scalped one wicket in the fixture and despite that fact, he was retained by the franchise.

Jaydev Unadkat: Rajasthan Royals Players Talking With Each Other In Practice Sessions More

The players in bio-bubble can not talk and mingle with anyone on the outside. Players going out together for a dinner is a thing of the past now. Rajasthan players for the same reason talk to each other a lot more, even during the practice sessions.

“To be honest we are actually coming together really well, we are bonding really well because being in a bubble we are not supposed to talk to anyone or meet anyone from outside the team. So team room visits are lot more frequent, we guys talk a lot more in the practice session as well and talking about our camp the atmosphere is still very positive, everyone takes each other’s decision positively,” Jaydev Unadkat added.

S Sreesanth Bowled Leg Spin In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Match

S Sreesanth has made the headlines since the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy began on January 10. There was a lot of spotlight on him even before the start of the tournament as he was making a comeback after a huge gap of close to seven years after spot-fixing led ban and desperately wanted to take the field.

The veteran of 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is and close to 200 wickets in all formats combined also got very emotional after picking his first wicket against Puducherry in the opening game of the team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021.

S Sreesanth Praised Yashasvi Jaiswal Calling Him Good Batsman

He was called out for sledging the youngster batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal during the match against Mumbai and the latter ended up hitting him for two back to back boundaries. S Sreesanth himself then took to Twitter to praise the Mumbai youngster calling him a very good batsman while also stating that he always gives his 100% on the field no matter what.

The Kerala pacer continued to hog the limelight on Sunday as well and this time it was for his different style of bowling. He is known to bowl at a rapid pace.

S Sreesanth last played T20I way back in 2008 and Test and ODI back in 2011. The biggest shock in his volatile career came when he was among three Rajasthan Royals players arrested in May 2013, along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, for the alleged fulfilling of promises made to bookmakers in the IPL. In September, the BCCI’s disciplinary committee found him guilty of spot-fixing and banned him for life which was later revoked.

S Sreesanth Bowls Leg-Spin Like Anil Kumble:

S Sreesanth is known for his long run-up and pace but during the match against Andhra Pradesh, at the Banda Kurla Complex in Mumbai, he bowled leg-spin and ended up picking a wicket as well. With the result being inconsequential in the match, he decided to bowl leg-spin and his action seemed similar to Anil Kumble.

However, he bowled a short delivery only for the batsman Ashwin Hebbar to rock back and play a pull shot. But it didn’t go the distance and Vishnu Vinod pouched a simple catch in the deep.

Though S Sreesanth was in the news for trying out a different bowling action and picking up a wicket, Kerala didn’t have a great day on the field. After being put in to bat, they could only muster 112 runs in 20 overs despite losing only four wickets. In response, Andhra Pradesh rode on top knocks from Ashwin Hebbar (46) and Ambati Rayudu (38*) to chase down the target in the 18th over.

He returned with the figures of 1/25 in his three overs while Jalaj Saxena picked up two wickets in defence of a low score. Kerala won the first three matches of the tournament and this ended up being their first loss.
