Despite being the part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Faf du Plessis, who’s a street-smart captain, could impress one of the two new franchises. Du Plessis had been at the forefront of South Africa in the international fold.

Having the experience of leading his team across formats, du Plessis will hold a key for any of the sides if the CSK won’t retain him.

The 35-year-old Pretoria born had played 204 T20s. He had amassed 4903 runs at an average of 29.18. The middle-order batsman had slammed a ton and 29 fifties during his T20 career. In 44 T20IS, du Plessis had garnered 1363 runs at an average of 35.86.

In the IPL he had represented Rising Pune Super Faint when CSK was barred from playing two editions of the IPL due to 2013 fixing saga.

Given his experience of marshalling his troops, du Plessis could inspire any team to lift the title.
