I Want India To Win Test Series In New Zealand – Sourav Ganguly

The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said he wants Virat Kohli and Co. to savor success in the two-match Test series against New Zealand. When India last toured New Zealand back in 2014, the visitors won the ODI series by 4-1 but they lost the Test series by 0-1. India has played nine Test series on the New Zealand soil, in which they have won only two in 1967-68 and 2008-09. The first was under the leadership Tiger Pataudi and the second one came in the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

On the other hand, New Zealand has won five Test series on their home soil against the Indian team. Thus, India will look to turn the tables in the upcoming two-match Test series. The tourists have got off to a good start on the tour as they won the first T20I by six wickets. Hence, Virat Kohli’s men will aim to continue the momentum.

India will need to be at their best.

“Chances are very good, the last time when we toured New Zealand, we won the ODIs 4-1,” Ganguly told ABP news. “I want them to win the Test series… every series is equally important but winning a Test series is something special.

India has struggled on the green pitches of New Zealand and the present team will also find it a challenge to get going. However, the visitors have been in prime form and they would like to carry forward the confidence. Ganguly added the team is in good form to get the positive results.

India is in good form.

“This is a very good side and they are good in form. I believe if you want good cricket on the field then you’ve got to sort out the off-field administrative things.”

“We give freedom to Virat Kohli, ask him not to take any undue pressure, we also tell them to keep an eye on the consistency of the players,” he added.

On the other hand, New Zealand had taken a drubbing against Australia as they lost by 0-3 recently. However, they will be playing in their own conditions. India has been in prime form and would need to be on the top of their game to get the positive results.
