ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Bangladesh Is Hopeful On Shakib Al Hasan’s Availability Against Windies
Bangladesh camp is hoping Shakib Al Hasan’s availability in their upcoming Cricket World Cup match against Windies.
The no.1 ODI all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is currently in an excellent form. In the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Shakib is the leading run-scorer till the 12th June 2019. The left-handed batsman has scored 260 runs in three innings of the ongoing Cricket World Cup with an average of 86.66 and strike-rate of 95.94.
In the ongoing CWC, Shakib scored 75 against South Africa, 64 against New Zealand and 121 against the host side England.
Moreover, as a left-arm spinner, Shakib has also picked up three wickets in this tournament.
During their match against England, Shakib received a muscle injury in his left thigh. Despite that injury, Shakib didn’t stop in that game and played a magnificent innings.
Due to that injury, the 32-year-old was doubtful in their next game against Sri Lanka. However, that match was completely washed out due to the heavy rain.
Steve Rhodes is positive about Shakib Al Hasan’s fitness
In their next match of this tournament, Bangladesh will face Windies on 17th June at Taunton. While Bangladesh has a good off-time ahead of their next game, they are hoping to see fit Shakib Al Hasan for that match.
Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes believes that Shakib Al Hasan has enough time to get fit ahead of their Windies clash.
Rhodes said on Tuesday, “He picked up a little injury in that game against England and he fought on and battled on and played extremely well with an injury.”
Bangladesh has earned three points after their first four matches in 2019 CWC
In the ongoing Cricket World Cup, Bangladesh had a great start with a 21-run victory against South Africa. Then, Bangladesh suffered a close defeat against New Zealand by two wickets. In their third game of this tournament, The Tigers lost against the host side England by 106 runs. Their fourth match of this tournament against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to the rain washout.
After playing the four matches of this tournament, Bangladesh has earned three points. To qualify for the semi-finals, Bangladesh needs to secure some consecutive victories in the upcoming matches.
