ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Indian PM Wishes Shikhar Dhawan’s Earliest Recovery

Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out recently from the remainder of ongoing 2019 Cricket World Cup. On this matter, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently wished Dhawan’s earliest recovery. The Indian PM also claimed that India would miss Shikhar Dhawan until his return.

Indian national cricket team is currently busy in the ongoing 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in England and Wales along with nine more teams. The experienced Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has recently been ruled out from this remaining tournament due to his thumb fracture.

Earlier in this tournament, Dhawan received that injury during the match against Australia. In that match, Dhawan played a brilliant match-winning century knock.

Later, he missed out the match against Pakistan that India won by 89 runs (DLS method). However, the selectors and team management were hoping to see the fit Dhawan in the late stage of this tournament. But he is not likely to be match-fit in the remainder of this tournament, and that’s why the selectors have decided to drop him from the squad. Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has replaced him in this tournament.

After that injury has forced him to miss the remaining 2019 CWC, Dhawan recently shared an emotional message on his official Social Media accounts.

Indian PM Narendra Modi has recently reacted on that emotional post. He feels that India will miss Dhawan on the pitch. Indian PM has also hoped for his earliest recovery from that injury which can lead him to the national team return.

Modi tweeted, “Dear @SDhawan25, no doubt the pitch will miss you but I hope you recover at the earliest so that you can once again be back on the field and contribute to more wins for the nation.”

Shikhar Dhawan is a crucial member of the present Indian national cricket team. In the recent international tournaments, Dhawan was the most consistent batsman for India. He mostly finished as the leading run-scorer of his team as well as the leading scorer of the tournaments. His opening partnership with Rohit Sharma provides some crucial starts for the national team. So, the Indian national cricket team is undoubtedly going to miss Dhawan in the ongoing CWC.

At present, India is in a strong position in the 2019 CWC. India has already earned seven points in this tournament after their four matches in this competition. While India has won three matches in this tournament, they also have a no-result game against New Zealand.

India will play their next game of this tournament against Afghanistan at Southampton on this Saturday (22nd June).
