England opener Jason Roy and pacer Jofra Archer found themselves in the dock during England vs Pakistan World Cup tie yesterday. They both have been fined 15% of their match fees by ICC. Roy, who had a forgettable day on the field, was found to have breached Article 2.3 ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using audible obscenities in an international match.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the match. On the fourth delivery of the over, there was a mix-up between Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman. Despite that, England could not affect a run out with the fielder throwing the ball at the wrong end. Apart from being fined, Roy also saw one demerit point being added into his account.

Archer, on the other hand, was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. He wasn’t impressed with umpire’s decision to call one of his deliveries wide. He showed dissent towards the decision and invited fine from the apex board. Just like Roy, one demerit point was also added to Archer’s account.

Both the players will be banned for one Test or 2 ODIs/T20Is if they accumulate another three points in the next 24 months.

Apart from these two, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed also invited a fine of 20% of his match fees for slow over-rate. The other members of the Pakistan team were fined 10%. Pakistan also bowled the full quota of 50 overs and the match saw full 100 overs being bowled.

England skipper Eoin Morgan could also invite fine and could possibly be banned as England were found two-over short. They could not bowl the 50 overs in stipulated time. No decision has been taken over it yet and England await the decision of ICC regarding the matter. For now, he seems to be fine and could avoid a ban from the board.

The sixth match of ICC World Cup yesterday saw Pakistan pull off a big surprise as they defeated England. The Men in Green successfully defended a total of 348, restricting England to 334/9.
