ICC U19 World Cup 2020: Rakibul Hasan Creates History in Bangladesh’s Victory Over Scotland
Bangladesh U19 team had clinched their second victory in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2020 after outclassing Scotland U19 by seven wickets. The Tigers’ left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan clinched a hat-trick to dismantle Scottish team.
In the Group C contest, Scotland U19 captain Angus Guy decided to bat first after winning the toss. But like their previous game against Pakistan U19, when they were bundled out for just 75 runs, this time Scotland U19 team were bundled out for just 89 runs (30.3 overs). Only the opener Angus Guy (11), middle-order batsman Uzzair Shah (28), and the tail-ender Jamie Cairns (17) managed to reach the double-figure mark.
Rakibul Hasan had the bowling figures of 5.3-0-20-4:
All the Bangladesh bowlers bowled quite well, the left-arm spinner Hasan created history by taking a hat-trick. In the 24th over of first innings, he dismissed Kess Sajjad (7), Lyle Robertson (0) and Charlie Peet (0) in three successive deliveries. While Robertson returned to hut after his dismissal came in the form of lbw; Sajjad and Peet were bowled by the left-arm spinner. Hasan snared the first hat-trick of this ongoing U19 CWC.
Hasan completed that match with the sensational bowling figures of 5.3-0-20-4. Also, the pacers Shoriful Islam (2/13) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/26) bagged two wickets each.

In reply, Bangladesh youths lost three wickets before reaching the target in 16.4 overs. Scotland bowler Sean Fischer-Keogh (3/27) took all the three wickets. However, his team ended up on a losing side. Among the Bangladesh batsmen, Mahmudul Hasan Joy remained unbeaten on 35 while the opener Parvez Hossain Emon scored 25 runs.
With this seven wickets victory, Bangladesh U19 have put one step ahead to qualify for the Plate quarter-finals of this tournament. Bangladesh team has won both their matches in the Group C as they beat Zimbabwe U19 in their opening game of this tournament. In that rain-interrupted match, the Asian side beat their opponents by nine wickets (DLS method).
Earlier, on the same day of Bangladesh U19 vs Scotland U19 match, India U19 thrashed Japan U19 after bundling them out for just 41 runs.
