ICC World Cup 2019: Kedar Jadhav Could Miss Opening Match Against South Africa

Indian cricket fans are happy to see Kedar Jadhav reaching near to full fitness. However, he might still be a doubt for India’s tournament opener against South Africa.

The 34-year old have become an important member in current Indian team over the past 2 years. His ability to bowl economically makes him an indispensable player from the team. Kedar Jadhav has time and again proved that he is a real match winner for the India.

He suffered shoulder injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings. In their last league game against Kings XI Punjab, he was sidelined and rested. Kedar Jadhav did not take part in the playoff games for Chennai Super Kings.

Jadhav made a significant recovery during his rest days. He even managed to hit couple of full net sessions. The team management are very happy with his progress. But they are not willing to risk him against South Africa if he is not fully fit.

He even missed out on India’s two warm up games against Bangladesh and New Zealand. India had some tough sessions on the field since landing in England. The management decided to give team a deserved rest on Sunday.

Many Indian cricketers including skipper Virat Kohli, Kedar Jadhav have hit the gym. Even though the tournament is still three days away, India are looking as relaxed as they can be.

Virat Kohli Injury Scare

On Saturday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had injured his thumb during a practice session. Indian physio attended to him, but Virat was seen leaving the ground with his thumb in ice water.

However, the team management are confident about Virat Kohli’s availability against South Africa. The injury scare was a big one and Indian fans hope that entire team will be injury free throughout the World Cup.

Dinesh Karthik will play in case Kedar Jadhav is unfit against South Africa. KL Rahul is the most likely player at No.4. He impressed with his batting in the warm up game against Bangladesh.
