Last night they were thorough to secure their fifth win of the tournament. The Men in Blues kept their winning run going as they beat West Indies by 125 runs to knock them out of the World Cup. West Indies were upto the mark after Virat Kohli opted to bat first. Rohit Sharma fell early of an inswinger from Kemar Roach. But KL Rahul and Virat Kohli helped the side build momentum. But the team from the Caribbean Islands bounced back with three quick wickets. Kohli stood tall to score his fourth consecutive fifty in this World Cup. Although he failed to cross the three-figure mark getting out for 72, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya’s late contribution helped India post 268 runs – a challenging total on the board.
While many thought it was a gettable total but the Indian bowlers had some other plans in their mind. They have played a significant part in India’s recent success and once again proved why they are highly-rated as a bowling unit. Mohammed Shami returned with four wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal claim two apiece to rattle the West Indies to 143 runs.
Soon after the game, Michael Vaughan heaped praise on the Indian team. Vaughan has been an ardent supporter of the Men in Blues and has openly supported them on social media site. He once again backed them, saying that India is the team to beat in this World Cup. Virat Kohli & Co play host England next on June 30 (Sunday) at Edgbaston.
“Will stick to it… Whoever beats India will win the World Cup,” tweeted Vaughan.
