On Sunday (8th March), the new selection committee has announced the 15-member Indian ODI squad for the upcoming home ODI series against South Africa. Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shubman Gill have returned to the squad.
The hosts India will play the three-match ODI series against South Africa from 12th to 18th March 2020. It will be their last ODI series before the beginning of 2020–22 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, which will begin after the IPL 2020.
Indian ODI squad: Five players have been dropped from the last ODI squad
While the limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is missing the squad due to his calf injury, the selectors have dropped five players from the last ODI series squad that toured in New Zealand in last month. The opener Mayank Agarwal, all-rounder Shivam Dube, middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav all have been dropped from the previous ODI squad along with the pacers Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur.

After recovering from the injuries, Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar all have returned to the ODI side. While Shubman Gill wasn’t selected in the playing XI during the last Test series in New Zealand, the youngster has been included in the ODI squad. Gill has played two ODIs, and both were during India tour of New Zealand in early 2019.
