The left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan conceded 15 runs in the first over of that CWC final match. While Zaheer was the most expensive bowler in that match, he had the bowling figures 7-0-67-0. He conceded six wides and two no-balls in that match. Zaheer (4) was also the last batsman to lose the wicket in that final match.

However, apart from that match, Zaheer was one of the heroes in that tournament as he was India’s most wicket-taker in that tournament (18 wickets).

In the next few years, Zaheer struggled in international cricket. But since late 2006, he started to perform consistently, and gradually he became one of the best pacers in his generation. Zaheer played a massive role for India to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 as he was the joint-most wicket-taker in that tournament (21 wickets).

While Zaheer played international cricket till 2014, he played IPL till 2017. After his playing career, Zaheer has taken the roles of coaching and expert analysis. In 2017, Zaheer was also the bowling consultant of the Indian team.
