Sixes is one of the most interesting and important parts of Indian Premier League (IPL). It can change the status of the match within a very small period. The no. of sixes from a team can show their dominant level in a match or in the tournament.
Alongside this, the no. of sixes from a batsman also shows the dominant level of his batting. Basically, a team can win a match or win a tournament who has the maximum no. of dominant players.
In IPL, there are various special awards for maximum no.of sixes. In every IPL match, the batsman who hits the most no. of sixes becomes the winner of Maximum Sixes Award. INR 1 lakh prize money and a trophy is included for every match. In the case of tie, the award winner is selected through the longest six of the match (among the tied batsmen).
There is also a personal season award for maximum no.of sixes which is named YES Bank Maximum Sixes In A Season Award. A cheque of INR 10 lakh and a trophy is included in this award. A batsman who hits the maximum no.of sixes in an IPL season, receives this award. In the case of tie, the award winner is selected through the longest six during the season (among the tied batsmen).
Like the previous IPL, there are no changes in IPL 2017 for this award system.
