IPL 2018: 13th Match, KKR vs DD- Kolkata Knight Riders Players Rating

The home team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) returned to winning ways as they thumped Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 71 runs in their fourth game of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Batting first, Kolkata banked on some mighty blows from Andre Russell (41 off 12) and Nitish Rana (59 off 35) to post a huge total of 200 runs. Meanwhile, Russell was well in line to break KL Rahul‘s record of fastest fifty but fell short of nine runs.

Robin Uthappa (35) and Chris Lynn (31) also provided good support as Kolkata posted their highest score of the season.

In reply, loss of wickets at regular intervals cost Delhi the match. Nobody took the onus on themselves to bat till the end.

Moreover, they gave away wickets on bad deliveries which hurt them the most. Other than Glenn Maxwell (47) and Rishabh Pant (45), no other batsmen crossed the single-digit figure.

Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav was spot on with the ball claiming three wickets each. The young Shivam Mavi also bowled with good pace and temperament.

Here is the players rating of KKR:

Chris Lynn: (6/10)

Although Lynn played a knock 31 runs, he was not his usual self. He struggled to get his timing right which will be a sign of worry for the KKR team management.

The swashbuckling batter from Australia will also want to hit back to form in the next fixture.

Sunil Narine: (8/10)

Although the ploy of sending him up didn’t work, Narine made it up with the ball. He was absolutely brilliant during the end overs.

The mystery spinner returned with 3 for 18 in his three overs.

Robin Uthappa: (7.5/10)

Uthappa provided the perfect start to the home team striking the ball brilliantly. He scored 35 runs off just 19 balls as Kolkata got off to a flier.

He will look to carry his form and contribute to Kolkata’s winning cause.

Nitish Rana: (8/10)

The young Rana was brilliant with the bat pacing his innings with great authority. He played a responsible knock of 59 runs off 35 deliveries including five fours and six sixes.

His form in the middle-overs will certainly boost Kolkata morale.

Dinesh Karthik (c & wk): (5/10)

Although the skipper got a perfect start but failed to capitalise on it. His 10 balls 19 gained the momentum for the host as they banked on that to post a huge total.

Karthik so far has had a mixed bag on the field but will look to steer thing from this win.

Andre Russell: (9/10)

The ‘muscle’ Russell showed his power with some towering sixes as he single-handedly took the game away from Delhi. He struck six sixes on his way to scoring 41 runs off just 12 deliveries.

Russell has hit the form early in the tournament which is an added advantage for Kolkata.

Shubman Gill: (4/10)

The young Gill didn’t have much time to showcase his talent. He went to bat at the 19th over and tried to clear the field.

His scored 6 runs off five deliveries and will wait for a perfect opportunity.

Shivam Mavi: (7.5/10)

The young Mavi impressed the most with his brisk pace and line and length. He was bowling well over 140 kmphr and castled Gautam Gambhir’s stumps which will be a priceless moment for him.

Although he dropped one catch but was outstanding on the ground saving many boundaries for the team.

Tom Curran: (5.5/10)

Curran replaced Mitchell Johnson in the first XI but went for plenty of runs. He gave away 21 runs in two overs and bagged the wicket of Rahul Tewatia.

He will look to improve his performance if given a long run.

Piyush Chawla: (6/10)

The veteran leg-spinner was very average the ball as Karthik didn’t finish his full quota. Chawla returned with 1 for 16 in his two overs against a depleted Delhi side.

However, will look to put an improved effort in the next game.

Kuldeep Yadav: (7/10)

Kuldeep got wicket-taking spree back as he finished the game with three wickets including Pant and Maxwell.

Although he went for runs but his wickets ensured Delhi has no firepower left in their ranks.
