Shane Warne, the mentor of Rajasthan Royals, has shown signs even after his side lost the opening contest of IPL season.
The Mentor of Rajasthan Royals has said it’s quite early to write off his side –
Very disappointing first game for all of us @rajasthanroyals to say the least. We have a very good squad and will bounce back strongly ! Do not write us off – as it’s a very long tournament !
— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) April 9, 2018
His tweet came after Sunrisers Hyderabad crushed Rajasthan Royals in their opening encounter.
After being asked to bat first, Rajasthan Royals had a poor start and lost D’Arcy Short in the very first over. Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson tried to build up the innings, but the former was dismissed in the seventh over.
From there, Rajasthan Royals‘ innings never took up, and in the end, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side managed 125 runs on the board. It was the first time when a team played a full quota of 20 overs but did not hit any six.
The target was never going to be difficult for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but they also lost an early wicket in the name of Wriddhiman Saha at a score of six.
Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson then took over the charge. They both shared an unbeaten partnership of 121 to sail their side past victory.
Rajasthan Royals failed in both the departments and suffered a loss in their opening encounter. As Warne said, the tournament is a long one, and 13 games are remaining. Though, Rajasthan Royals will have to catch up soon so as to have a good season.
Meanwhile, it is not yet confirmed whether Jofra Archer is fit or not? As of now, he is still recovering from a side strain. He suffered the injury during PSL and is still recovering from it. Rajasthan Royals are hopeful that the all-rounder will soon be fit to play. He was purchased by the franchise for Rs 7.20 Crore in the IPL auction.
Rajasthan Royals next face Delhi Daredevils in a home contest on April 11.
