It was a brilliant day at the office for Mumbai Indians in the Qualifier-1 of the Indian Premier League 2019. They outsmarted Chennai Super Kings for the third time in the tournament to head into the finals of the tournament. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma makes his voice on the win, which will see them in the final of the tournament.

Initially, it was the bowlers of the Mumbai Indians, who did the trick for the team. Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav and the fast bowlers delivered when it mattered the most to make things fall in the place for the team. They made CSK to be restricted for 131 runs on the board.

In reply to the chase, Suryakumar Yadav has been the best batsman for Mumbai Indians. He batted sensibly on a tough track, especially, when Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock walked back for the cheap score.

Have the confidence in our batsmen – Rohit Sharma

Speaking after the victory, the flamboyant skipper quoted that he got a lot of confidence on the team. He is happy for the win and feels that the three days leave would help the boys to be fresh for the final of the tournament.

”Was a great effort. Great feeling to know that we’ll be playing the finals. Three days now in which we can switch off before the final. Much needed break. I knew we have the bowlers to restrict them. Have the confidence in our batters as well. Was important to restrict them to as little as possible, because it can get tricky against their quality spinners”

On Jayant Yadav:

Further, Rohit Sharma went on to reveal that Jayant Yadav addition was a tactical one, as the pitch would assist the spinners. The lanky Jayant had used it well to get the wickets for the team.

”It was a call we had to make, knowing they have quite a few right-handers in their squad. Jayant is a quality bowler. Thought that a finger-spinner can be more effective than a wristie. Knew MS was going to be crucial towards the end. We had plans laid out. When you restrict a team like that under 140, it looks very good. Credit to our bowlers for executing that.”

On Suryakumar Yadav

Yadav played brilliantly on a wicket, which was really tough to bat on. The skipper Rohit Sharma showered words of praise on the young batsman for standing in the middle, when it matters the most.

He’s probably one of our best batsmen against spin. We knew the spin threat they possess will be a huge factor. Surya plays spin very well. I’ve seen him at close quarters. The shots he plays behind the wicket, those are not easy shots. Always knew he was going to come good at some stage. We’ve got a balanced squad.”

All in all, it has been a brilliant day for Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians Now, they will have a good 3-day break before taking the winner of the Qualifier-2 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
