Former Team India batsman Hemang Badani is of the opinion that Chennai Super Kings should get rid of the likes of Ambati Rayudu or a Kedar Jadhav and start including Murali Vijay in the Playing XI who has done a terrific job for the Chennai Super Kings in the past.
The former left-handed batsman felt that with the inconsistency and lack of run-scoring form for some top class batsman, it is very important to start including Murali Vijay at the top of the order who might look to provide the perfect solidity at the top of the order.
There is no disagreeing the fact that Chennai Super Kings has been found wanting on several occasions and especially in the batting department. Shane Watson with whom CSK has persisted for a long time has failed to give them consistent starts which haven’t helped the team’s cause.
He is a sensational striker of the ball but with the tournament reaching the business end, it is very important that he starts delivering. Or else Hemang Badani feels a Watson or an Ambati Rayudu should be dropped in favour of Murali Vijay,
The former Indian Test opener who is out of contention in the longest format of the game has done a good job for the Chennai Super Kings in the past and has also smashed a couple of centuries in IPL cricket wearing the yellow jersey. He is a supremely stylish batsman who has the ability to find the gaps and hit the big shots on a consistent basis.
Meanwhile, the likes of Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu hasn’t been in the best of touches. Suresh Raina has also looked out of sorts and has failed to get his franchise over the line on quite a few occasions this tournament. There is certainly no doubt about the fact that Raina is a world class player. However, if he isn’t performing, the southpaw could become a liability for the team.
The defending champions are all set to meet the Kings XI Punjab in the 55th match of the tournament in 3 hours time. CSK will be hoping to finish with a victory which in turn will also guarantee a top-two finish. MS Dhoni has been the player of the tournament for CSK. However, his injuries have affected him a bit. However, after a great performance against DC, he will be upbeat of repeating the feat today.
