Two of the strongest contenders of the Indian Premier League 2019, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with each other. Knight Riders is at the culmination of the points table whereas Chennai Super Kings is at the second position. In fact, both teams had won their respective previous matches and would like to continue the same. We take a look at Match Preview, Prediction, Weather, Pitch, Predicted XI, Stats.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings had snatched the win from the jaws of defeat against Kings XI Punjab. Chennai was without their specialist death bowler – Dwayne Bravo, however, his absence wasn’t felt. The spinners – Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja were once again right on the money.
Chennai has been phenomenal once again.
In fact, all three of them have made most of their experience and they have ticked the right boxes. In the previous match against Kings XI Punjab, they had bowled 12 overs and had conceded only 59 runs. Thus, the spin battery has done a great job for CSK.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis who had played his maiden match of the season against Kings XI Punjab had scored a fine fifty. du Plessis brings experience to the table and he was able to hit the ground running.
As often is the case, MS Dhoni had provided the finishing touches as he bludgeoned 23-ball 37. Dhoni had got his team to a fighting score and his knock had turned out to be the difference.
KKR has ticked the right boxes.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders had shown in the previous match that they are not solely dependent on the shoulders of Andre Russell. Just like Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders’ success leans on their spinners. Piyush Chawla, Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav had combined to bowl 12 overs in the previous match and leaked only 74 runs.
Ergo, the spinners are the spine of both the team’s success. Subsequently, Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine had continued their penchant of hitting quick runs. They catapulted their innings in the fifth gear and both of them were driving their super fast cars on a free-flowing expressway.
Meanwhile, Andre Russell has turned three matches on its head for KKR. He has been the perfect rescue man of the team and has grabbed his opportunities with both hands. Required run of over 12 looks like a cakewalk for the big man and he is continuing to impress with his pyrotechnics.
