While keeping things pretty simple, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise and three-time champions Mumbai Indians have unveiled the brand new jersey to be donned in the twelfth edition of the domestic professional Twenty20 league. With the IPL 2019 kicking off on March 23 in Chennai, Rohit Sharma led Indians will take on Shreyas Iyer’s Delhi Capitals (DC) at iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 24.

Earlier, Capitals launched their jersey on February 23 with Rishabh Pant featuring in the promotional video.

In the half-minute-long video, all-rounder Hardik Pandya makes an appearance while stating ‘Season Naya’. Also, skipper Rohit follows him up while saying ‘Andaaz Naya’.

Moreover, Hardik’s elder brother Krunal Pandya stated ‘Tewar Wahi’ before Rohit in a subtle way said, ‘Flavour Naya’.

The latest jersey promotion culminates with Jasprit Bumrah alongside Rohit, Hardik, Krunal revealing the fans could watch their team in a brand new ‘avatar’.

In what could be termed as an innovate example to present the all-new jersey, Indians players delivered on the camera as well. Besides, the video plays team anthem in the background.

Rohit in his recent interview revealed they’re looking forward to giving their best.

“Our aim is to gel well as a unit. With a couple of games scheduled in the first week, we are aiming to settle down to excel in the forthcoming IPL competition. We have set small goals to come good in the long tourney. As a team, we will go ahead on the week-to-week performance which will help us in doing well in this edition,” Rohit told Star Sports on the launch of jersey.

With Indians clinching the trophies in 2013, 2015, 2017, Rohit urged his fans to keep supporting their team. He has further termed Indians’ fans as ‘twelfth man’.

Meanwhile, Rohit is just 11 matches away to lead his franchise in 100 IPL matches. So far, he has led Indians in 89 games.

Interestingly, Indians availed the services of southpaw Yuvraj Singh, who was left out by the Kings XI Punjab. Initially, Yuvraj remained unsold, but the last-minute buy augurs well for the senior batsman.

For experienced campaigner Yuvraj, Mumbai shelled out INR one crore.

Under the tutelage of IPL governing committee, the IPL auction was held in Jaipur by new auctioneer Hugh Edmeades on December 18.

Earlier, Indians retained as many as 17 players in their squad. Eventually, they have traded Jayant Yadav from the Capitals. The important addition came in the form of wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
