IPL 2019: RR Cannot Afford to Lose against the CSK – Kris Srikkanth
It’s a matter of a couple of hours, when bleak-looking Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on the defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With the 12th match of the IPL 2019 taking place at Chepauk, former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth has a piece of advice for the visiting team.
On the other side, Chennai has won their both games under the leadership of wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni.
On winning back-to-back games, Chennai is keen to continue with their domination while riding on team support.
Concurrently, CSK is listed third on the group with four points and their net run-rate is in plus, whereas, Royals are languishing at the bottom of the table with their net run-rate reading minus 0.672.
The high-octane clash has a lot on an offer with Royals aiming to bounce back following a couple of losses. Meanwhile, CSK has already delivered to remain in good stead.
In between, Royals had witnessed an individual brilliance courtesy Sanju Samson’s 102 off 55 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In a similar game, Rahane has played a crucial role, but the visitors were blown away by five wickets in Hyderabad.
IPL 2019: RR capable of bouncing back – Kris Srikkanth
Furthermore, the 59-year-old Srikkanth stated Ajinkya Rahane-led side can’t take another loss in the stride. He, however, believes Royals has the potential to reap rewards.
“They cannot afford to lose another against CSK,” Srikkanth wrote for the ToI.
Well, with Royals losing two games, it might have dented their morale, but Srikkanth speaks highly of the Jaipur-based franchise.
“Rajasthan have now lost two games they should have won. They will and always have been a competitive side,” Srikkanth said.
Srikkanth, who has wealth of experience on his back, believes Royals should have won their game particular against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on March 25.
IPL 2019: RR’s inability robbed them off victories –
In that particular game, Jos Buttler played a blinder before middle-0rder collapse robbed hosts of their maiden victory in the IPL 2019 season.
KXIP won the game by 14 runs. Subsequently, the game was marred by mankading controversy when Ravichandran Ashwin mankaded Buttler, who was ambling forward at the non-striker’s end.
Very visible of throwing away the game, Royals have been too close but the over-dependence on some players made them cost too much.
“It’s their inability to close out games have cost them in the past,” Srikkanth concluded.
With Royals set to face the CSK on Sunday evening, they’re hoping to turn the tables to open their account.
