IPL 2019: Strongest XI From the Four Eliminated Teams

After a long struggle of 43 days and 56 matches, the four teams will be competing for the coveted IPL trophy. After Mumbai Indians won their last league match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the scores changed on the points table. Where Chennai Super Kings was holding the top position, now MI resides at the zenith of the table. Though CSK is still in the second position which means they will still get two chances to reach the final.

Delhi Capitals is at third and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the fourth position, they are the two other playoff teams. Now the tournament is heading to its end with only the four high-octane matches to be played- Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the Final.

While the four teams reached the last stage of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals are dismissed. And with all the controversies in this IPL, it has been one of the most exciting seasons. All the teams have shown their high spirits to win every match.

And even though the teams have not made it to the playoffs, there have been some stunning performers in each team. Here is the list of the strongest eleven players from the four eliminated teams of the tournament.

Openers:

The third highest run-getter of the last season came with a will to repeat the same this year. With his strike rate of 135.38, Rahul managed to score 593 runs in 14 IPL matches. Where he amazed everyone during his seventh IPL tournament, he managed to get the World Cup berth for himself.

And meanwhile, his team could not make it to the final four, KL Rahul made sure he came up a good performance. He bagged six half-centuries in the tournament and a spellbinding century which came at the Wankhede Stadium. His last league match against CSK was spectacular where he scored the highest for his team (71 runs off 36 balls).

Chris Gayle (Kings XI Punjab):

The known best batsman of the T20 format gave another smashing year of performance for the team. Despite his age, Gayle never ceases to amaze his fans and give them the perfect staging. He scored 490 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 153.60.

The combative hitter has thrashed the bowlers and scored 45 fours, 36 sixes including four half-centuries. His unbeatable 99 off 64 balls was his tournament-best performance, though he missed his seventh IPL ton by just one run.

Middle Order:

Virat Kohli (Royal Challenger Bangalore – Skipper):

As usual, the RCB skipper gave his best performance in the tournament. He collected an aggregate of 464 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 141.46. Kohli was one of the two batsmen who made 5000 IPL runs which included his fifth IPL ton, which he scored against KKR at Eden Gardens off just 58 balls.

Despite losing six matches straight in the first phase of IPL, RCB had a chance to make it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, they failed to capitalize it. Kohli led his team to five wins and a tie in the 14 matches of the league.

AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore):

Apart from Virat Kohli, it was the veteran South African batsmen who supported the team throughout the tournament. Known for using all-around play with his bat, de Villiers gathered a total of 442 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 154.00 for the team.

His innings against Kings XI Punjab was the most stunning where he scored 82* off 44 balls with three fours and seven sixes. The Proteas batsman once again proved his mettle for the team.

Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders):

Nitish Rana scored 344 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 146.38. The southpaw is one of the mainstays of KKR who registered three fifties comprising 21 sixes and 27 fours. He has been valuable during the last three seasons of the IPL having scored 333, 304 and 344 runs respectively.

His best is the unbeatable 85 off 46 balls against RCB at Eden Gardens while chasing the target of 214 runs.

Lower Order:

Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders):

The game-changer Caribbean has been in the limelight throughout the IPL 2019. The experienced T20 player first unleashed his power in the match against RCB where he shattered them with his unbeaten 13-ball 48 knock.

The most valuable player of IPL 2015, amassed a total of 510 runs in 14 matches at a blistering strike rate of 204.81. He scored four half-centuries during the league which comprises of 52 sixes and 31 fours.

Ravichandran Ashwin (Kings XI Punjab):

The KXIP skipper has been the face of the IPL controversies when he ‘Mankaded’ Rajasthan Royals’ wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler. At an economy rate of 7.27, Ravichandran Ashwin finished the league with 15 wickets in 14 matches.

However, he had been leading his team this season, KXIP was unable to make it to the playoffs.

Spinners:

The Karnataka leg-break bowler who had the best IPL of his career having the three most important wickets in his bag. It was during the match against RCB that the leggie snatched the second hat-trick of IPL 2019. He was able to pluck the wickets of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis in one go.

The 25-year-old spinner finished the IPL 2019 campaign with 20 wickets in 14 matches at an economy rate of 7.22.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Yuzvendra Chahal has been the most damaging bowler of the IPL 2019 for RCB. In the last game of the league against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chahal became the 14th bowler to take 100 IPL wickets. In 14 matches of the league, Chahal scalped 18 wickets at an economy rate of 7.82 where his best figures were 4/38.

Chahal bowled the second most number of dot balls in an innings (18 dots) during his four-over spell against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. He will be guiding India’s bowling squad in the World Cup 2019.

Fast Bowlers:

Mohammad Shami (Kings XI Punjab):

Mohammad Shami, who was roped in by Kings XI Punjab, ended the season becoming the franchise’s leading wicket-taker for IPL 2019 with 19 wickets in 14 matches.

Meanwhile, Shami is introduced in the World Cup squad of India, this has been a glorious IPL year for him. In his previous World Cup in 2015, he was the second highest wicket-taker for India with 17 wickets to his name.

Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals):

After his impressive display of 15 wickets in 10 matches in his debut season, Jofra Archer was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2019.

The English fast bowler took 11 wickets in as many matches during the ongoing IPL season. Archer bowled the most number of maiden overs in the season and impressed everyone with his brisk pace.
