ToggleChennai Super Kings have posted 170 runs after Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and decided to bowl first. Chennai Super Kings could not get off to a good start as Shane Watson was cleaned up by Sam Curran. The right-hander was looking to cut the ball which was slightly up the horizontal bat shot and Curran was able to hit the top of off-stump.
Subsequently, Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina added a fine partnership. In fact, both the batsmen took their time in the initial phase. However, Raina and Faf were able to change the gears.

Faf du Plessis was on fire.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis completed his second fifty of the season off 37 balls with the help of seven fours. In fact, the South African captain also completed his 11th IPL fifty.
On the other hand, Suresh Raina also gave good support to Faf du Plessis. Raina who had scored a fifty in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad continued his good form going. Raina completed his third fifty of the season off just 34 balls as he scored his 39th IPL fifty. The southpaw batsman innings was laden with five fours and two sixes.

Raina scored a fifty.
Faf du Plessis further added his foot to the pedal after reaching his fifty. Raina and du Plessis completed the hundred runs partnership in 67 balls. However, Raina’s knock was put paid by Sam Curran when the southpaw could not clear short fine-leg fielder, Mohammed Shami after scoring 53 runs. However, the stage was set for rampaging MS Dhoni to take the bowlers to the cleaners.
On the other hand, Faf du Plessis was able to time the ball with perfection. du Plessis innings was ended by a beautiful yorker from Sam Curran after the right-hander scored 96 runs from 55 balls and missed on the well deserved hundred. Thus, Sam Curran scalped three wickets.

The best part about this Faf & Raina partnership is the ease with which they’ve done it. It’s flowing like a stream … no risk and high return #KXIPvCSK
