The countdown of the beginning of the IPL 2020 is in the final mode as Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will meet in the opening game of this tournament in less than two hours. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has pointed out two crucial battles which he wants to watch during the first match of the much-awaited IPL 2020 between MI vs CSK.
On Saturday (19th September) evening, the defending champions MI will face the last year’s runners-up CSK at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi). All the cricket fans are excited to watch the much-awaited IPL 13 season opener, more especially when both these teams are the top two teams in this tournament history.
Talking about battle to watch out for during the opening game of the IPL 2020, Aakash Chopra first pointed out the battle between MI captain Rohit Sharma and the CSK leg-spinners. Chopra feels that smart CSK captain MS Dhoni can start with the pacer Deepak Chahar from one end and with a spinner from the other end.
Chopra said on his YouTube channel video, “First one is a leg-spinner bowling to Rohit Sharma. Because this can happen, MS Dhoni is a very smart captain. It is possible that he will start with Deepak Chahar and get a spinner from the other end.”
Leg-spinners bowling to Rohit Sharma will be a beautiful battle to watch out for: Aakash Chopra
According to Chopra, this CSK leg-spinner can be the experienced Proteas cricketer Imran Tahir or experienced Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla. However, the former Indian cricketer also raised a doubt on the using of the leg-spinner at the beginning moment due to Rohit’s left-handed opening partner, South African cricketer Quinton de Kock.
Chopra added, “It can be Imran Tahir or Piyush Chawla but you will get a left-handed Quinton de Kock, so it will be a question if a leg-spinner can bowl. But I will say leg-spinners bowling to Rohit Sharma will be a beautiful battle to watch out for.”
Then, Chopra wants to watch the battle between MI pacer Jasprit Bumrah and CSK batsmen.
He claimed, “The second battle will be Bumrah vs the Chennai Super Kings batsmen.”
Aakash Chopra also talked about some crucial strategies for both the teams during the MI vs CSK clash
Talking about the strategies of Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener, Aakash Chopra feels that the skipper Rohit should continue to open, while Suryakumar Yadav should come to bat at the no.3 position. The former Indian cricketer also believes that the Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard should be promoted in the MI batting line-up, even at the no.4 batting position if possible.
On the other hand, Chopra wants Ravindra Jadeja to bat earlier as the CSK haven’t any left-handed batsman at top of the batting order.
Also, Chopra believes that the CSK captain MS Dhoni should come to earlier in the batting order.
