ToggleIn the 23rd match of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) continued their winning streak after comfortably defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 46 runs at Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).
Rajasthan Royals captain Steven Smith decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Delhi Capitals managed to put the first innings total of 184/8 (20 overs). In reply, Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 138 runs (19.4 overs).

Rajasthan Royals (RR) innings
Chasing down the target, Rajasthan Royals batsmen struggled in the entire innings as they failed to build up any strong partnership. While opener Jos Buttler (13 off 8 balls) was dismissed in the third over of that innings by Ravichandran Ashwin.
Another opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Steven Smith set up the 41 runs partnership for the second wicket. But once Smith was dismissed in the ninth over, Rajasthan Royals were losing their next wickets at regular intervals as they failed to make any strong contest.
While Smith scored 24 runs off 17 balls, youngster Jaiswal scored 34 runs off 36 balls. Rahul Tewatia fought hard till the last over and scored the highest runs in that innings as he scored 38 runs off 29 balls (3 fours and 2 sixes), but he didn’t get any support from the other batsmen.
Among the Delhi Capitals bowlers, Kagiso Rabada was best at the end with the bowling figures of 3.4-0-35-3. Also, Ravichandran Ashwin (2/22) and Marcus Stoinis (2/17) bagged two wickets each in that same innings.

Openers Shikhar Dhawan (5) and Prithvi Shaw (19) were dismissed cheaply inside the first five overs of the match as Jofra Archer took both those wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer was also dismissed during the powerplay as he was run out after scoring 22 runs. At the end of the mandatory powerplay, Delhi Capitals were fighting on 51/3.
Later, in the 10th over, Rishabh Pant was run out for just five runs. However, the next two batsmen, Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer played some crucial roles in the middle-order that massively helped the Delhi franchise to set up a challenging first innings total in that match.

While Stoinis scored 39 runs off 30 balls (4 sixes), Hetmyer scored 45 runs off just 24 balls (only four and 5 sixes). Later, Harshal Patel (16 runs) and Axar Patel (17 off 8 balls) played some small but important cameos in that innings.
Among the RR bowlers, pacer Jofra Archer finished that innings with the bowling figures of 4-0-24-3.
