Both teams are playing their 12th match of this season while both these teams have already earned 14 points each. In the IPL 2020 points table, the defending champions Mumbai Indians are on the 1st position and Royal Challengers Bangalore are in the 2nd position.
It is their second meeting of this season. During the 10th match of this IPL season (at Dubai on 28th September 2020), they met for the first time in this season where RCB won the Super Over after the tie result.
IPL 2020, Match 48: Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (MI vs RCB) – Toss Report
Mumbai Indians captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and decided to field first. MI have maintained the same playing XI of their last match.
Pollard said, “We will field first. Hopefully, we will see what happens but we have to come out and play good cricket. In the last game 190 odd, don’t think it would change much and hopefully, we can chase it down later on. We are playing the same team.”
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli confirmed that they made three changes in the playing XI. Shivam Dube, Josh Phillipe and Dale Steyn have joined in the playing XI as the replacement of Navdeep Saini, Aaron Finch and Moeen Ali.
Kohli said, “Pretty happy with batting first, exactly what we wanted to do. Quite a few changes tonight. Saini misses out, Shivam Dube comes in. Josh Phillipe comes in for Aaron Finch and Dale Steyn comes in for Moeen Ali. Seemed pretty one-sided for the first couple of weeks and the teams in the lower half are fighting hard and it’s important for us, we have been playing some consistent cricket and we have played well together as a team and tonight we are looking to execute our plans well.”
