Former Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been very much impressed with the England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who recently produced the brilliant match-winning all-round performances in the Manchester Test. Pathan believes that India requires the all-rounder like Stokes to become an unbeatable side.

Ben Stokes is currently the Test vice-captain of the England cricket team, who also led the English Test team during the recent Southampton Test against West Indies (first Test of the ongoing series), where his team lost by four wickets.

So, the recently concluded second game of the ongoing three-match Test series between England and West Indies at Manchester was the crucial match for the hosts who couldn’t afford another defeat in this series. In that game, after the visitors sent the hosts to bat first, Stokes scored his slowest Test century (100 off 255 balls) and the left-handed batsman played the knock of 176 runs off 356 balls (17 fours and 2 sixes). With the opener Dom Sibley, who also scored 120 runs off 372 balls, Stokes put the giant 260 runs partnership for the fourth wicket as England scored 469/9 decl. in their first innings.

In reply, when West Indies were bowled out for 287 runs in their first innings, the right-arm pacer Stokes managed to pick up one crucial wicket (1/29) of the highest run-scorer, opener Kraigg Brathwaite (75).

Stokes came to bat in third innings of the match as an opener, and he recorded England’s fastest Test fifty by an opener (50 off 36 balls). His 78 not out off 57 balls (4 fours and 3 sixes) helped England to score 129/3 decl. in just 19 overs.

Chasing down the 312 runs target, the West Indies were bundled out for just 198 runs as England beat the visitors by 113 runs. Once again, Stokes played the crucial role for his team in that fourth innings by taking two wickets and finished with the bowling figures of 14.4-4-30-2. While his performances helped the hosts to level the Test series with one match to go, the all-rounder undoubtedly won the Player of the Match award.

While the cricket world is highly praising the all-rounder Ben Stokes, Irfan has wished to see this kind of all-rounder in the Indian team as he believes that it will help the Indian team to evolve as the unbeatable side anywhere in the world.

Irfan tweeted, “Indian cricket will be unbeatable anywhere in the world if they have a match winning all rounder like @benstokes38#matchwinner”

After that great performance in the latest Manchester Test, Stokes becomes the new no.1-ranked Test all-rounder.
