Last Monday (7th October) was the birthday of one of the best fast bowlers of the Indian team history – Zaheer Khan. From sportsperson to fans everybody wished him on social media. Instagram and Twitter are flooded with birthday wishes.
Ishant Sharma also wished the senior fast bowler. Zaheer Khan made his debut in the Indian national cricket team in 2000. Since then he improvised his performance and picked wickets when needed. He played 200 ODIs and 92 Test matches. He picked up 311 wickets in Test matches and 282 wickets in ODIs.
Zaheer is 10 years older than Ishant Sharma. Ishant made the debut in the team in 2007 when Zaheer was in great height. In the birthday wish, Ishant wrote about the mantra which the senior fast bowler told him. He wrote that Zaheer gave him the advice to focus more on fitness than technique. His advice has helped Ishant Sharma in the cricket career.
At the very start of my career, Zak pa told me something that has been with me till date. He said, ‘Fast bowling is 70 per cent fitness and 30 per cent skills’. I have lived by those words right through my career and even today!
