IPL 2020: Jasprit Bumrah Sets Sights On Winning The Tournament For Mumbai Indians

Jasprit Bumrah, who had a disappointing start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, registered his second four-wicket haul of this season against Delhi Capitals in the first qualifier. For his exceptional performance, he was adjudged with the Man of the Match.

In the post-match conference, Jasprit Bumrah said that more than getting wickets, executing his given role carries much importance for him. He wants to see the team on the winning side even if he is not the leading wicket-taker.

For his game plan against Delhi Capitals, he said that he tried to execute yorkers early on the game to get the rhythm forward. The speedster added that for him, the key is focusing on his execution rather than worrying about the end results.

“I am okay with not getting wickets and winning the tournament, I have been given a role so I just want to execute that role. Opening yorker was really important. I decided I will do that early in the game and when it comes off it’s always nice. I am always ready when the captain wants me to bowl. I don’t focus on the end result. When I have done that it’s always gone downhill,” Jasprit Bumrah said.

Talking about his new ball and death over bowling partner Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah mentioned that both shared a great camaraderie and were easygoing while discussing their plans. Further, he jokingly mentioned that it was good to be the man of the match in the batsman dominating format.

“I have a great camaraderie with Boult. We discuss fields, situations, so there’s a lot to learn from him. Batsmen have been taking all the awards, so it’s good to get it as a bowler (laughs). Ah no, I don’t worry about awards. As long as the team is winning I am happy,” Jasprit Bumrah remarked.

Jasprit Bumrah got the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane for duck and sent back the captain Shreyas Iyer early. He then broke the partnership of Marcus Stoinis and Axar Patel by picking the wicket of the former. Overall, he returned with the figure of 4-1-14-4.
