The 26-year-old right-arm fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reached another great height in his career on Sunday (18th October) night as he became the leading T20 wicket-taker as an Indian pacer.
Jasprit Bumrah created that history during the 36th match of the IPL 2020, where the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) were playing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai). Mumbai Indians pacer Bumrah reached that top position after picking up his first wicket during the second innings of that match.

Before that match, Bumrah managed to pick up 194 wickets in 165 T20s. In his previous match, which was between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Bumrah equalled the record of most T20 wickets as an Indian pacer, which was previously holding lonely by R Vinay Kumar.

In the latest match (against KXIP during the 36th match of the IPL 2020), Bumrah finally became the leading T20 wicket-taker as an Indian pacer after he bowled the in-form KXIP opening batsman Mayank Agarwal for 11 runs. It was Bumrah’s 195th T20 wicket.
Bumrah finished that match as the best bowler as he took three wickets and ended with the bowling figures of 4-0-24-3. It had the tie result, while KXIP finally won that match in the second Super Over as the first Super Over of that match also had the tie result. After that match, Bumrah has picked up 197 wickets in 166 T20s.

In the meantime, surpassing R Vinay Kumar, Bumrah also became the sixth most T20 wicket-taker among the Indian bowlers. All the top five most T20 wicket-takers among the Indian bowlers are right-arm spinners.
