The bowling sensation Jofra Archer set to miss the first Test of the Ashes owing to an injury. The flamboyant cricket is all set to make his debut in the Test format of the game following a wonderful World Cup campaign. But, unfortunately, injury issues set to delay his arrival to Red-Ball cricket.

Archer sustained a hamstring injury during the world cup. He played the entire tournament with a bit of pain, something, which needs to be given its time to heal. As a precautionary measure, Jofra Archer will be staying away from the first Test of the Ashes series and also not included in the squad for Ireland Test.

Jofra Archer to visit Barbados:

The pace sensation was given permission to return home to Barbados for rest and will not be part of England’s 16-man pre-Ashes training camp this weekend. There are reports England do not expect him to be available until the second Test at Lord’s.

Wood and Archer, who both clocked deliveries at 154kmh in the World Cup, are the wildcards in an England pace attack expected to include veteran pair James Anderson and Stuart Broad and the dependable Chris Woakes.

Meanwhile. England team announced their Test squad for the game against Ireland with a lot of surprises.  Opening batsman Jason Roy has been named in England’s Tes squad for the first time.

He is expected to open the batting with Surrey teammate Rory Burns. This will be an opportunity to impress the selectors ahead of the Ashes series against Australia starting on Aug 1.

Somerset all-rounder Lewis Gregory has also been called up for the first time, while uncapped fast bowler Olly Stone, who picked up an injury on this year’s tour of West Indies, returned to the squad.

England’s leading wicket-taker James Anderson was included, despite picking up a calf injury this month. England World Cup winners Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes were rested for the Ireland Test. However, they have been included in a 16-man pre-Ashes training camp this weekend.
