Jofra Archer Will Definitely Play A Part For England This Summer – Chris Jordan

English pacer Chris Jordan is confident that Jofra Archer will play a part for England in the upcoming English cricket summer.

The 24-year-old bowling all-rounder Jofra Archer has impressed in recent English County cricket. Due to the recent change in the eligibility regulation, the Barbados-born cricketer is now eligible to play for England cricket team.

While England has a busy home cricket summer in the upcoming season, including World Cup and the Ashes, Chris Jordan confidently believes that Jofra Archer will play a part for England.

According to thecricketer.com, Chris  Jordan recently said, “Jofra will definitely play a part for England this summer. He keeps going from strength to strength. Every time he steps up a level his game seems to rise with it. That’s the nature of the kid – he’s very humble. I cannot see anything but success for him.”

The 30-year-old Chris Jordan is also Barbados-born and very excited to play with Jofra Archer. Both are currently playing for Sussex, and Chris Jordan has a dream to play with Jofra Archer for England.

The senior cricketer added, “We live next door to each other, and playing for England together would be a dream come true. Looking at his journey, and my journey, I would go back to play for Barbados and we got close. I said to Robbo [Mark Robinson, then Sussex coach] we should get him over and have a look at him.”

India is not a very easy place to bowl – Chris Jordan

Currently, Jofra Archer is busy in IPL 2019 where he is serving for Rajasthan Royals (RR). The right-arm pacer made his IPL debut last year, and he was the highest wicket-taker for his team (RR) in last season. In IPL 2018, he took 15 wickets in 10 matches with an average of 21.66.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing IPL season, Jofra Archer has picked up three wickets in four matches.

Talking about  the IPL, Chris Jordan said, “India is not a very easy place to bowl – some people go for 50 at a time, and they haven’t bowled badly. The IPL really is a different beast – the fans, the build-up. So to get yourself to be in the frame of mind to perform day in, day out is an achievement.”

Chris Jordan played IPL from 2016 to 2018. He played 11 IPL matches where he picked up 12 wickets.

England and Wales will host the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup from 30th May to 14th July. A total of ten teams will participate in this competition, including the host side England.

With his recent performances, Chris Jordan is suddenly in World Cup contention. The pacer won the Player of the Tournament award during England’s recent T20I series against the host Windies.

However, the pacer is not thinking too much about the World Cup selection.

He said, “I am not thinking about it too much. A month ago I was not even part of the conversation. After a couple of performances, I am not going to get caught up with that. It’s up to me to keep having fun, to keep performing for Sussex. All I can do is keep going, keep my form at a level.”

However, Chris Jordan hasn’t played an ODI since September 2016.

Chris Jordan finished as the joint leading wicket-taker (six wickets) during England’s recent concluded away T20I series against Windies. After England lost the Test series and drew the ODI series in that tour, they won the three-match T20I series by 3-0.

In the second T20I of that series, while Windies was all-out on 45 runs, Chris Jordan had the bowling figures of 2-0-6-4.

Talking about his performances in that  series, Chris Jordan said, “It was a good series. Having come into the team having watched a lot of the heavy scoring before [in the 50-over series] it was pleasing to contribute to a clean sweep [in the T20s]. The caught and bowled was nice. I’d been working on a few slower balls so it was great to deceive him with it, and to top it off with a nice catch. Nicholas Pooran was a key man for the boundary catch, so again that was pleasing.

“That performance had been coming for a little while. I thought I had been bowling well in the Big Bash without getting a big haul or stealing the headlines as I would have liked. I stuck with my processes, and got on a roll that way.”

Chris Jordan is also excited to play “The Hundred” –  100-ball tournament. The inaugural edition of “The Hundred” will be held in next year.
