You must be wondering why England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow has expressed his wish to see England winning the Two World Cups, this year. Pertinently, England are hosting the ICC World Cup 2019 scheduled to begin from May 30 at Kennington Oval in London. On the other side, Bairstow wants the England Rugby team to win the World Cup slated for October.

Meanwhile, cricket pundits have already termed England as firm favourites for the impending World Cup. The prominent face in the English set-up is excited for the forthcoming Rugby World Cup as well.

Interestingly, having a keen interest in rugby, Bairstow was himself involved in rugby matches during his school days. Furthermore, he has developed an interest in following the rugby union and league, respectively.

In between, England’s rugby team also stands a realistic opportunity at the mega event.

“With the Rugby World Cup coming up at the end of the summer it is a huge year,” Express UK quoted Bairstow as saying.

Moreover, Bairstow has praised Eddie Jones for his work ethic. Jones is serving as England national team coach since 2015. He added Jones has had reposed faith in players which eventually gives them a chance to win the World Cup.

“The way the union side has been playing over a period of time under Eddie Jones, He’s been scrutinised along the way but the ethos and the work ethic he has instilled into his players is huge to give them a shot at winning the next world cup,” Bairstow added.

He has lavished praise upon Jones for working in a conducive atmosphere. Bairstow further compared his work with England Cricket Team coach Trevor Bayliss, who also hails from Australia.

“The players have bought into the style that he’s wanted them to play in much the same way that we have bought into the way Eoin and Trev wanted this side to play many years ago,” Bairstow elaborated.

Besides, the twelfth edition of the World Cup will begin on May 30. England opener Jason Roy and Bairstow are eyeing first double hundred for England in the ODIs.
However, the right-handed batsman is not sure who will achieve the milestone among the duo.

Bairstow maintained it would require plenty of hard work to achieve the double ton.

“I don’t know who is going to get a double hundred first but we’re both going to be gunning for it, I know that. There has obviously never been an Englishman to do it, but hopefully, this year is the year that one of us can go out and achieve that feat, but there is a lot of hard work that goes into it,” he concluded.

The 29-year-old Bairstow, who made his debut in 2011, has featured in 63 ODIs. He has amassed 2329 runs at an average of 47.5. However, his batting score is unbeaten 141 which came against Windies in 2017.

Well, hosts, Three Lions will play the World Cup curtain-raiser against South Africa in London on Thursday.
