Australian right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood is now excited to feature in the IPL 2020 and play with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. In a recent interview, the 29-year-old Hazlewood believes that he has some similarities with Dhoni.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to host the delayed IPL 2020 between 19th September and 8th October 2020. The schedule of the 13th edition of the IPL can be released soon.
The three-time IPL winners CSK are one of the most successful teams in the T20 cricket history. In IPL history, while they have already played 10 times, they always finished on top four and only failed to reach the final of the tournament twice. Like his tenure as a captain in the Indian team (2007-2018), MS Dhoni has once again achieved huge success as a CSK captain as he is continuing this role since the inaugural edition.
On the other hand, the Aussie right-arm pacer Josh Hazlewood hasn’t experienced the IPL tournament yet. In the 2020 IPL auction, Hazlewood was bought by the CSK for his base price (INR 2 crore). Though the IPL 2020 was originally scheduled in India between 29th March and 24th May 2020, the tournament was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Hopefully, we are a good match: Josh Hazlewood on playing with MS Dhoni
Though the Aussie pacer Hazlewood has to wait longer, he is excited to experience his first IPL season and that too with the skipper MS Dhoni. Hazlewood feels that he and Dhoni have the same nature to enjoy the game and produce the best performance by becoming very relaxed and calm.
Hazlewood recently told WION, “Again, I am excited! I think he is a pretty similar player to me – very relaxed and calm – and that’s how I play my best cricket, that’s when I enjoy my cricket. Hopefully, we are a good match.”
From 2013 to 2016, Josh Hazlewood has played seven T20Is where he has taken eight wickets. On the other hand, he has played 35 T20s till the date where he has managed to pick up 42 wickets.
