On Monday (23rd December), the national selectors announced the Indian T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming home series. However, the cricket fans are unimpressed with Kedar Jadhav‘s selection in the ODI squad.
The Indian national cricket team will begin their journey in the new year (2020) with the three-match home T20I series against Sri Lanka. They will play these matches on 5th, 7th and 10th January at Guwahati, Indore and Pune respectively.
Then, India will play the three-match home ODI series against Australia. Mumbai, Rajkot and Bengaluru will host these matches on 14th, 17th and 19th January 2020 respectively. For this series, the selectors have announced the 16-member Indian squad, and they have retained Kedar Jadhav. But many Indian cricket fans are not happy with this selection.
After making his international debut in November 2014, Kedar Jadhav has played 71 ODIs and nine T20Is where he has scored 1,354 runs (average 42.31) and 122 runs (average 20.33) respectively. While he has scored two centuries and six half-centuries in ODI career, he also hit one half-century in T20I. The off-spinner, who is famous for unorthodox bowling style, has also taken 27 wickets. While he last played in T20I in October 2017, he is still a regular ODI player.

Fans are not happy with Kedar Jadhav’s recent performances
In the recently concluded home ODI series against West Indies, Kedar Jadhav played some crucial cameo knocks. During the first ODI at Chennai, he scored 40 runs off 35 balls when India were struggling to set up a good first innings total.

In the next game at Visakhapatnam, Jadhav came to bat in the 48th over and remained not out on 16 runs off ten balls. But in the Cuttack ODI, which was the series-decider, Jadhav failed to stay in the important moment and was bowled after scoring just nine runs (10 balls). During that short innings, Jadhav was struggling to run quickly with the Indian captain Virat Kohli, and the Indian cricket fans were not happy after watching those incidents.

After the latest team selection, many have raised questions that the 34-year-old Kedar Jadhav can’t be seen as a future of the Indian team, especially due to his age. They feel that India have many talents to replace Jadhav.

We need to move on from Kedar Jadav ,
He is 34 now & looking 2023 World Cup he become 38,
We need to find no 6 proper batsman who can bowl,
For me Vijay Shankar is more suited at no. 6 ,
Good batsman handy bowler and good fielder,
Captain & Coach must look at this#INDvSL— @AJ (@MrThakurG) December 23, 2019
