During the third IPL, the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian to win the IPL Orange Cap award. Finishing that tournament as the most run-scorer, the right-handed batsman scored 618 runs in 15 matches at an average of 47.53 and strike-rate of 132.61. He hit five half-centuries in that tournament, including his best score 89 not out. While Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Tendulkar won the Player of the Tournament award at the end of that tournament, his team finished as the runners-up.
